Funny, I was of the mind that Kerry got so many votes just because so many people were simply anti-Bush. Which is appropriate since the DNP has degenerated into the anti-party.

BTW, Hitler was right behind Einstein for Man of the Century.

More people didn't not want Bush than didn't not want Kerry.

I think he qualifies based on Times criteria. If you think about Bush, he actually epitomizes the underdog, which is very American. Who can honestly say that he fits the bill of a prez? It is obvious that he is not well-spoken, prolly not smart enough, and messed up for 4 years, but he beat all contenders. What sucks is that I lean slightly more Republican than dem and he is gonna ruin it for McCain in 2008. Our debt will climb, science will regress, the bible will be our constitution, Iraq will not be over, and then, once I start making decent money, a dem will come in and tax the shit out of me to fix it all. Oh well, hakuna matata.

I don't like Giuliana too much. What did he do? People praise him for what he did after 9/11, but I think anyone else would have done the same thing. It's like a mouse getting out of a maze, it is cool that they did that, but there was no other recourse, either they get out or they die. Plus, I think he is not far enough to the right for the Repubs.

There will be few Replicans as far right as Bush ... hopefully. Giuliani has the Basics.

What puzzles me is that repubs might as well put someone up closer to the middle. They would steal dem votes and the inbred and religious fucks just tow the party line anyway.

I think Guliani is not far right enough as well. His stance on abortion will lose much of his base Republican support, as well as mine. I don't think he'll get the nod, but I am hoping for McCain.

I expect as landslide Republican win in 2008.

I believe that many people voted for who they disliked the least, or were party loyalists. I heard more talking about who was the lesser evil than why they liked xx so much.

Oh come on Luke! You know we got the better man for the job. I don't know how old you are, but if you're 25 or younger, Kerry would have already been getting ready to call your SS#!

Bush is well known for the great work he has done financially ... ... as a republican I find his economic policies to be foolish.
If I ran my businesses the way he ran the country I'd be broke, my family would be hounded by creditors and I'd be in prison right now.

Really though I am against him primarily because of his decision to take Iraq instead of catching Bin Laden. We went into WWII and brought down Japan for less damage then was caused on the 9/11 attacks. Bin Laden is still free, we are not attacking his location or the organizations that harbor him, and a war that has nothing to do with our country's top issues is killing our soldiers.

He did win by the largest popular vote in history. Big deal … our pop is higher so that’s a no-brainer. You can crunch numbers in a million ways but on a factual basis with zero slant he has been the both most contested election winner and holds the narrowest winning margin in our in our lifetimes. He is not a President of the VAST majority … just that of a narrow margin. Those of you who are on the Bush team may be able to claim him as your man but don’t act like the whole of the country is with you. We are not …

I sucks to be a Republican with strong party goals and watch the leader of my party act in direct conflict with his responsibilities to the party and the country as a whole.

""Person of the Year'' doesn't necessarily honor its recipient and controversial cover choices for the issue have included Adolf Hitler in 1938 and Josef Stalin in 1939 and 1942"

Not to mention Nixon 71,72 and Kissinger 72; Ayatullah Khomeini 79

Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a man, woman, or idea that "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year." Though TIME's list is not an academic or objective study of the past, the list gives a contemporary viewpoint of what was important during each year. There are many interesting facts about the list:
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
