I can't believe no one likes those crazy dachshunds "wienie dogs", they kick ass. I have a mini and she weighs 8 lbs. She thinks she's a rott. My parents raise them so I've always had one.

Ive always owned hunting dogs that also were good protectors. Vizslas, Labs, Shorthairs....I always thought a dog should earn their keep. Now I find myself having to live with two dogs my wife picked, since I had to put my Vizsla down last year. Ones a 9 mo. old boxer pup and the other is a Bichon
Frise. Both are utterly worthless except for the fact they are cute as shit and love the family. BTW both were complete surprises to me. I came home one day, "for each" and they were there.......................Rich

I say siberian huskies hands down!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Pitbulls are super friendly, loyal, fun loving and carefree dogs!! the catch is they have whats probably the strongest and most devastating bite amongst dogs becoz of their short, wide jaw and could tear a human beaing apart in minutes if given such instructions and training! They were mistreated, trained and abused for so long with the purpose of making them bitter and angry, so they'd kill in dog fights.
I was kinda reluctant at first to own one, but after researching and experiencing the joy this dog brings to our kids and family, I now know its all in the way they are trained...Even a chihuahua can become a frightning dog under certain circumstances!!!

The problem with Pits is to many of their breed lines have been selectively manipulated to produce aggressive, "or what the shitkickers call spirited", animals. For the destructive human equivalent of such breeding just look at bonecrusher, who no doubt has a family tree that resembles a flagpole.

Ive seen some sweet female pits, even a few males who are fine around the house, but I would never, ever leave one around a small child. To be fair I wouldn't leave any dog alone with a small child. But a Pit I wouldn't leave alone with any age kid. Most pit owners, other then those in the fight life, have very little knowledge of their animals bloodlines. Again, to be fair, the same could be said for other aggressive breeds. I'm afraid Crazys explanation doesn't do justice to the truth. And the truth is that Pits have been selectively bred to be fighters........period! And mistreatment after the fact might contribute to the animals hostility but its not the root cause. Their breeding is!.................Rich

Well said. My pitbull pup is the sweetest dog in the world, and all he wants to do is play with everyone. It's very sad that people go out of their way to avoid me when I walk him and what is the worst is when someone finds out he is a pureblood rednose, the first thing they do is ask me "Are you gonna fight him?" I hate that shit. He is naturally very muscular and big, but has the biggest heart. Their reputation is a sad one, but their temperment relies completely in how they are brought up and how they are socialized. Mine plays with my buddies dog all the time and he's never shown aggression and even sleeps with my parents' cats sometimes.

I KNOW!! We have another dog, 6 mths old, quite playful and sometimes annoying to my Pit, but she's just so sweet! She will never fight over food(even table food), she would rather just leave it to the other dog than fuss over it!We also have 2 cats and a rabbit, she never displays even a hint of aggressiveness towards anything, anyone. She cleans the youngest kitten!!
While their pedigree often has a lot to do with their temperment, raising and treating these dogs like babies pretty much turns them into one! They are attention seekers who want nothing more than to show loyalty to their owner...Unfortunately, that sometimes means fighting for them!

I have owned many, many dogs. But I have never seen a dog that captured the love and attention of a whole neighborhood like he did. There wasnt even a store around here where he wasnt welcome either. These dogs are the epitome of what a loyal and loving dog should be because they thrive on human attention.

Unfortunately....they are very, very expensive to maintain because they are prone to many ailments, conditions, and diseases. Hoss was one of the rare ones that had no physical deformaties or ailments, but I lost him anyway. If you or anyone contemplates a dog like this, be prepared for the possibility of heartache because they will capture you like nothing else on this earth. And when they go....and they will...... you will never be the same.

Metal dude, Im sorry. I had to put my beautiful Vizsla down last year and I cried like a baby at the vets. I can walk thru a massacre scene of dead people ,while eating a beef sandwich with ketchup on it, and it doesnt faze me. But losing your dog???

Man thats fucking hard. Every dog Ive lost has crushed me.......................................Rich

Thanks Rich. I couldnt even go to the vet when they took him. But I cried like a baby when they came home without him. Just went out to the back yard and.....bawled. Then I sat almost lifeless when they brought me his ashes. Even now I still sometimes call his name out loud, then I catch myself....Ive never been crushed so hard. Ever.

A Vizsla...thats one of the kinds of dogs my GF wants. I just dont know if I can ever have one again.
