No child left behind ... besides these two

The Wheelchair Bound are Toast http://www.theksbwchannel.com/educat...49/detail.html

Westminister High School in Carroll County, Maryland apparently isn't buying into that "Leave No Child Behind" stuff. During a fire drill, they left the school's two wheelchair bound students at the top of the stairs to fend for themselves. And that's the policy at the school. Get the other students out, and leave the kids in wheelchairs on the second floor until firefighters arrive. Parents think the logical solution is to move the kids to ground floor classrooms. The school doesn't like that idea because it's inconvenient getting the two kids to the lunch room on the second floor. Wow. Left behind in case of fire and forced to eat school food. These kids can't get a break. (KSBW)

I heard about these kids today on Neil Bortz. Aparently this jacked-up policy was supposedly born out of a lawsuit that was slammed on a person who assisted a wheel-chair person during a similar fire-drill. During the drill the wheelchair-bound person was dropped and recieved a rather severe cut on thier head.

Aparently, to avoid such lawsuits, this school adopted this stupid policy.Nothing confirmed yet but that's the speculation I've heard so far.

I could not do that myself. No real man could leave a kid in a building with the damn fire alarm screeching away. Not anyone I would hang with anyway. My boss said leave 'em there I'd have to give his ass a reality check.

Oh I agree completely 100%. Besides, the "good samaritan laws" protect you in this case anyhow. Even if you were to drop a kid and break his leg you could not be sued so long as you were in the act of saving the kids life.
