Kelly gets on my nerves - BIG TIME - and even though Ryan played the game well by voting off Lisa it still feels sneaky.
My vote goes to Gary! He seems like a great dad and husband and well just an all around nice guy![]()

i hope gary wins but i dont think he will simply because he looked really good at the last episode. he doesnt need to lose that much more. kelly on the other hand has a longgggg ways to go.
I also think its Gary's game, his body changed drastically, he's thrown on muscle and I think he needs more toning up than weight loss now...Funny he's the only member left from the "eat more" diet group....

it will be interesting to see how they managed in "the real world" these past 3 months being on their own and fighting the temptations.
WHy did they kick Mo off? Don't get me wrong, it makes it more interesting for us, I would figure they would have kept him, he had no chance.
Of the 3 left, I would say the one most likely to stick to the diet is Gary.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

It depends on what the criteria is for winning. They never said. Maybe all of the old players will come back and be a "jury", who knows. It'll be Ryan if it's just pure weight loss.
Did anyone else wonder why they had them doing strength training? When you're being judged on scale weight and the prize is a quarter million I certainly wouldn't want to be gaining muscle![]()
I was thinking the same thing!!!Originally Posted by Paynne

1- intense lifting sessions deplete carbohydrate storage(used to power or feed the w/o) thus more fat is burned in the recovery period as carbs have been used up AND metabolism is cranked up
2-lean muscle is metobolicaly active(kinda burns cals even when ur doing nothing) the more lean mass u got, the higher your metabolism is, so by adding muscle, u increase the amount of cals u burn daily
if you choose to not add strenght training to a weight loss program, half the weight ull loose will be water and muscle, ull plateau quickly (unless u look like Mo!!lol) and will probably still be stuck with the fat , have a "flabby" figure or what one of my friends calls "pancake arms".lol

All that is true BUT since we know muscle weighs more then fat, the added muscle does keep them from dropping lbs on the scale which is what the show seems to be going by, the scale vs how you look in the mirror.Originally Posted by crazy_enough

Of course it helps em shed lbs on the scale!...They add muscle, sure may be "additional pounds" technically, but the fat and cals it allows them to burn(as it revs up their metabolism like crazy) overthrows this by far...
And besides the technical nitty gritty of weight loss theories, I say this from experience! I weighed 320 some pounds...Lost the first 100 w/o strenght training and pretty quick, but I had slowed my metabolism so much I plateaued...but the instant I started adding lean mass to my frame, bingo! The pounds melted off, even though I was "technically" adding mass to my body.
Weight loss without some type of strenght or resistance training is futile IMO!

I think the point is that in a short period where nothing else matters but total lbs lost, strength training would seem to be counter-productive.
I think we all understand that in the medium run and long run, you are correct.
If you told me you'd give me $1,000 for every pound I lost in january, I would not touch a weight.![]()
My Carb Cycling Progress - you can't hide from the numbers.
A few years ago I lost 20 lbs just by changing what I ate. When I finally got back to the gym I could only lose another 5-10 lbs even though I was dropping inches like crazy.

BTW, congrats on YOUR accomplishment!!!![]()

I still disagree!!lololOriginally Posted by Pepper
(I guess my wife is right when she says I can be a pain!!) I simply think that the amount of weight that they are putting "on" by adding lean mass is minimal when compared to the fat(= weight + inches) that is coming "off" as a result of reving up their metabolism...
Also, I think that if the show was simply about loosing pounds and winning money, it would "look" bad for the creators and network....The "selling idea" was technically to show these people how to change their lives completely and keep it that way.....Cant wait to see them after 3 months!! Im sure they were still "monitored" to an extent, otherwise it would appear that the show didnt "work"...
