If you got in a fight...

What style of fighting would you use? I.E. Boxing, Crazy swinging, Sucker punch, hurt them any way possible, some martial arts. etc....

You won't find me instigating a fight. That said, I'd apply the first lesson learned in karate - don't fight if you're not cornered - get away (i.e. run, etc.).

If that didn't work, then crazy style - anything that I could pick up and swing around = a weapon. Any damage I can do any way, coming your way.

Fight like it will be your last.. you lose, you die. You should always try and stay collected though, otherwise you make mistakes and will be vulnerable.

depends on the situation. a fight in a bar with some drunk jackass would not warrant the same techniques as that by some attacker in a dark alley
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

For the sake of clarity, we will say a school fight, 1 on 1, assume it won't be broken up with in 10 seconds.

Do anything you can to walk away. if you have no other options, then fast powerfull moves and grabs to end it quickly. Boxing is for the ring. just my opinion

"Hurt them any way possible" and "Crazy style"is the way for me.....as long as you don't do this you'll be fine.

The best advice I ever received on fighting was this: simply do your absolute best to avoid the first blow. Almost anyone that you fight will not know martial arts and will leave themselves wide open. Then take that moment to go for the eyes, the knees, or some other vulnerable part.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group

If the fight is unavoidable and in the circumstances such as a 1 on 1 schoolyard fight, my goal would be get them on the ground as quickly as possible... ie: take the fight to the ground. definately not box them or do some stupid shit like that

It also depends alot on who you're fighting, and how they fight. My pref is dodge and strike. Like cfs3 said, most people will leave themselves wide open. Especially after the first swing, because they will put everything they have into it, in the hopes of putting you down in a single blow.
Also Have to agree with PreMier..

It takes some very extreme cicumstances to goad me into a fight, Unless its some idiot(s) I can fend off without much concern, Ill be aiming to put somebody out of commision for good. So a,"school yard fight" is really unlikely of a situation for me(esp since Im not in school anymore ) But I can tell you if it came to that, it wouldnt be over something stupid.. er, It could be, actually. People get pissed about the stupidest things..

A month ago I was jogging through a Wal Mart parking lot- Passed some bushes, on which there was a stop sign on the other side.. Some idiot ran it, and almost hit me. I didnt care, was happy the situation passed without incident.. well, until he yelled at me because *I* almost caused an accident. At which point I couldnt help but stop, turn around, and point out there was a stopsign(which I knew was there) and that he was a dumbass.. WHAM, He got pissed off, pulled into the parking lot, and wanted to fight.. rofl. Like I said though.. All fights avoided unless thats not possible,(I managed to get away with pride intact this time) in which case, someone may have to die.

For the same reason I think its wise for a healthy minded individual to carry a firearm. If all conflicts are avoided until the point one would consider it threatening life and limb, then you have the added negotiating power of a bullet to detour that conflict. If reasoning, and a firearm doesnt stop someone you consider a threat, and you cant make a reasonable escape, then they need to die

Problem being, not all people are,"healthy minded indivduals". Worse yet, you inform that moron of his mental incompetency, and hed shoot you. LOL

    I'd just kill the fucker

Of all the fights i've ever been in, at first i throw a few haymakers.

1 of 2 things would happen:

    1. I connected, then lights out

    2. I missed, so then it's time to go to the ground. I proceed to wrestle with the fucker, then pummel his face. To finish him off, i slap him in the $Million Dollar Dream$ and then it's night-night
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

    Let me get this straight...

You either completely avoid a conflict, or you just shoot the guy? Wow, talk about polar opposites.

I like your style. Want a job?

Yes, Im saying do everything possible to avoid a conflict.. and If thats not possible, even after brandishing a firearm, than the person you're facing is one bad SOB and you dont have a choice.. "Kicking his ass(if physically possible)" probably wouldnt even do, as someone like that undoubtedly has retard strenght, and wont stay down unless you break his legs or something.

On the other hand, if you try to fight someone like that, and start losing, you're either gonna be dead, or wishing you were.

So yes, in such a very rare situation, take him out.

    Edited to add:
I dont mean in the context of argueing with them, and then shooting them if you dont think they're gonna give up
Even if pulling a gun doesnt work, I would still try to get away. *Unless it was someone who knew where I lived ect..* Like I said, Im a fan of the dodge and hit principal. In such a situation, someone would probably get the chance to throw a couple of swings before I actually shot them.

This thread isnt about shooting people, its about fighting. I was just proposing my thoughts on a last resort alternative which isnt really effective(and possibly even counter effective) thanks to stupid people. Then again, If there were no stupid people, there would be no fights Anyways, Just wanted to suggest to anyone who disagrees with that view that we keep it on subject

I don't like fighting. (but i have no problem watchin 2 guys beat the livin shit outa each other)

But every year there is always a dumbass or two that just can't take the hint. There just comes a point where they go to far & you just have to kick their ass.

No real style at all, just connect to the face on the first hit, if they don't go down then finish the job.

I personally think if your in a bar fight, theres nothing more pussy than kicking a guy in the balls. I had this happen to me at a bar once, and of course I went down like a sack of potatoes. If it was an attack or something, I can justify doing whatever it takes to get away, but a beer fueled brawl does not merit a blow to the giggleberries.

My brother in law got in a bar fight with a duke football player. The football player was huge 280+ pounds, brother in law's friend was about 160. The football player threaten him and got a beer bottle in the face and he's blind, and my brother in law's friend is in jail.

I fight reactive...I wait for the other person to swing on me and counter...If their bigger than I am I usually use stand back and use my long arms and ability to dodge punches. I'm not that easy to take down, but if taken down I know how to handle myself. I dont like hitting people, something just doesnt feel right to me about it so If possible I usually try to get them in some kind of hold until the fight is broken up. My favorite move is to wait for them to throw the first heavy punch, wrap their arm up and swing around their back and get them in a choke. That has worked more times than none, and they just walk away a little dizzy. I dont like blood and Im only 185 pds with a little knockout power, so all my punches do is cut. Not a good thing if you dont like blood.

edit..I drink but only a little. Trouble seems to find me when I can barely stand up.

if someone attacks me I just go for the kill. I don't know who you are or what your intentions are. Fear is a real and true emotion. When I act on fear like that I have no idea what will happen. Three years ago, coming out of a bar in NYC with 2 of my friends, we were jumped by 6 guys. One of my friends was hit on the side of the head and got knocked unconcious right away leaving only two of us. Now, I am not a violent guy but I got scared and freaked out and ended up picking the guy that knocked my friend out up, throwing him onto the the middle of the street, getting over top of him and grabbing him by the head I proceeded to smash his skull into the pavement until his arms went completely limp. I was so amped up that I didn't even feel his friends over top of me hitting me and kicking me (even though I had the bruieses on my back, head and face to prove it). I was just acting on my fear and all I could think was I am going to kill this kid. My friend ran over and pulled me off the guy and calmed me down. His friends picked him up off the pavement, his face bloody and just kind of hanging there. I feel bad about it but shit, in a street fight I am not going to square up to someone. It is not a fair fight. I will do whatever it takes to defend myself (play dirty if I have to).
