the last two lead to everything else esxcept gemetics and are IMO the most important charactaristics to have, but I had to pick one and I picked attitude/ mental focus..
I put work ethic. If your work ethic is good, every thing else will fall into place. (Except genetics of course.)![]()
They all intertwine![]()
Although i'd argue training (you ain't a BB in the first place unless your hittin' the iron), attitude and work ethic are the most important.
Genetics are overrated IMO, and can be bypassed with all the other elements, esp. if you add steroids
and diet is of course important, but not as important IMO
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

It suprises me that no one picked training.
You could have the best genetics in the world. Eat only enough of the right foods. And have the best work ethic and mental attitude in the world.
But how you gonna call yourself a BB if you don't train?![]()

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.
I understand that, but w/o training you aren't a BB in the first place.Originally Posted by ponyboy

I said diet. I would consider anybody that was concerned enough to eat a healthy balanced diet, a body builder. But I understand why ThatGuy put 'ethics'
most of those guys don't train. One of my best friends is the regional director of personal training for some gold's in california. he said it is so disheartening seeing some of those guys train. he said they do a set and then they sit there and chill out for like 10 or 15 min before doing another set. another bb'er out there was talking about how it is mostly the drugs that keep them going as they don't have a ton of time to trian with guest apperaences all over the world in the offseason. I think some of the guys like Ronnie still train hard like the old school lifters but a lot of the other guys are just slackers.

well the guy above also has a good argument, without training you wouldnt even be a bodybuilder.....

all above, but attitude a mental focus is what keeps you in the gym and keeps you training in the first place

I think all you guys are confusing what makes a BB and whats the most important part of BB considering those 5 variables are all there.
Maybe i'm slow, but i don't see how you can be a BB if you don't train at all...

well if you want to get all technical flex, if it weren't for genetics you wouldn't exist in order to train therefore they must be the most important : P

Let's say you have awesome genetics, so naturally you're muscular and lean. You eat nothing but healthy foods, and you have a perfect mental focus and attitude. Those STILL don't make you a BODYBUILDER unless you train, you're just a normal everyday Joe w/ good genetics, a good diet and a good attitude.
The term "bodybuilder" literally means "a person who TRAINS to improve their physique". So, in order to be a BB, you MUST train.
Like i said above, you guys are confusing whats the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of BB with what makes a BB.

Everyone is made up of genetic code, so therefore genetics actually "make" everyone and therefore make bodybuilders.![]()

here's a different question/opinion thing:
imagine there's a newbie training hard, eating right, learning as much as possible (throw in great genetics too) ...roughly how long does he/she need to train before you don't laugh to yourself when he/she refers to himself/herself as a bodybuilder?

I would say a couple weeks.. I believe being a BB is more mental than anything.

IMO
Arthur Jones makes bodybuilders.
I think I'd laugh unless they competed or had an AMAZING physique. You know, someone that looked like they could compete, but doesn't. I eat like a bodybuilder and train like a bodybuilder, but I don't consider myself a bodybuilder because I don't fall under either of the above categories.
