    I bought an iPod Shuffle

Awhile back i made a thread inquiring about these things, and i've been waiting impatiently forever. They FINALLY got 'em in at Circuit City, and i picked up the 1gig iPod (16hrs worth, or roughly 240 songs) for $150.

I must say, this thing is fuckin GREAT. After listening to the SAME 20 songs for TWO years straight at the gym, having 200+ is the best thing since sliced bread.

this thing is tiny, light, and SO easy to use. I highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting it or thinking of buying an mP3 player.

I have the 40G and will never use half that space LOL. Congrats Flex, it's soooooo much better than having to continously change songs in the other mp3 players!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

No, it's SOOOOOOOOOOOoo much better than having the SAME 20 songs on my mp3 player b/c it was very ghetto and the computer program wouldn't load on my computer, so i was stuck with the same songs

I thought about getting a regular Ipod, but my roommie advised against it since I would be jarring the hard drive too much while lifting and that would not be so good.

Apparently that is the reason for the shuffle, since it is flash based.

Dude, what the hell kinds of exercises are you doing? I use a Mini and I don't think it gets knocked around at all when I lift.

Flex, cool deal on the Shuffle. Lots of people were bashing that thing when it was introduced, but I have not heard a single bad thing from people who have actually purchased one.

Cleans, jump squats, sprints. I was told explosive movements, regardless of if the thing hits something, can cause damage to the hard drive and cause it to skip since it is a moving part. Skip protection helps a bit, but I heard it is still bad for the thing.

    Oh you didn't know?

As Dale finishes his set, he screams "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" , then takes the db's and throws them across the gym. Sometimes they bounce up and hit him.

Ya, bro. The thing is SAHweet. and for only $150, WELL worth it

That's a very good deal for 1gig, my 256 mp3 player I bought a few years ago was that much, but mine still works and only takes a minute to erase and fill with new songs. But now I take my laptop out to my bench and plug in the speakers and have my entire library of music available along with streaming audio via the net. That's one of the reasons I hate gyms, the same music everytime you go there, I find it hard to focus on my workout with Cher singing "Do you belieeeeeve in life after looooove"
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Jenny runs with her mini and hasnt had any problems...

you can get a nice 3 year performance warantee for another $50 which is a must have when spending that kinda mula IMO. Just in case...

Regardless, hers is still working like a charm.

Can you use the same Ipod Library/software for both the mini and the shuffle? (in case I get a shuffle as well.)

    Yes.

I too bought a Shuffle and I am very happy with it. There is a usb port right on the shuffle that you plug into the computer and this is how you transfer files and charge it. You can set itunes up so that whenever you plug the Shuffle in it automatically fills itself with new songs--the idea is that you aren't going to listen to 20gb+ of music before returning back to your computer... that's exactly why I chose the Shuffle over the regular Ipod. You can also use the Shuffle to store regular files just like on the ipod.

I thought maybe he was doing full contact football drills. That actually would be pretty cool.

ive had mine for ages and there is no problem as the hdd only spins for about 10 seconds every 25 mins of songs and the shuffle is a great feature

The hard drive ones are fine for weight lifting in general, but stuff that will jar them is bad. My bro goes mountain bike riding and his 30 gig Rio can't hack it. I think he is on his third one. I broke my little 256 mg one a few days ago, so I put money down on the 20g ipod made by HP. I'm just waiting for it to get in stock. I'll fill that thing up and never have to worry about making sure I got fresh jams before going to the gym. Having to change the music every other day got real old. A hard drive Ipod should hold up through my workouts. No jumping jacks here.

    i have the 20gb myself.

a word to everyone who uses them. dont ever unplug it from your puter while it is still "updating." i accidentally did that 1 day and screwed it up. i had to send mine back and they sent me a brand new 1 for free but it sucked going 2 weeks without it.

as for the abuse. i have had mine since august and it doesnt have a scratch on it.

My mom said she would buy me a Shuffle for my bday on March 10th. I am looking forward to it. I will buy all the accessories myself, though. I don't really like asking for things that I simply "want" from my parents. I usually just ask for things that I need.

Doesnt the shuffle just play the songs in 'shuffle' mode? And you cant have a set order? Also, can you make playlists?

Yes: I wouldn't imagine you could make a playlist, sinse there's no screen.

I think the whole idea is to make the whole thing a playlist.

Nope, it doesnt just play in shuffle mode, yes you can have a set order, and yes you can make playlists (although i havent figured out that last part yet)

Say i load all these cd's as a playlist:

    Pantera
    Metallica
    Hatebreed

I can have it either on "straight mode", where it will start at the 1st song that i downloaded (the 1st pantera one),and go through the entire Pantera cd in order, then Metallica etc.

If i have it on shuffle, it bounces around anywhere. Say it goes to Hatebreed song #7. If i put it back on "straight mode", it will play #8, then #9 etc.

that's why i loaded entire cd's in order, so if a song comes on and i want to listen to the whole cd, it goes straight through, so it's actually not bad at all.

man, my wo's have been furious with this thing, it's GREAT

time to go eat good ooooole chicken and sweet pots and watch 24, see you bitches after Jack Bauer kicks ass
