    Act/sat/gpa

With senior year around the corner, where I am going to college seems to be the topic at hand. I haven't taken any of the tests yet, but I was just wondering what some of your guys scores were on the ACT's and the SAT's and if you remember your high school GPA include that aswell.

All I know was my highschool gpa. It was a 3.5.

And I was president of Media club for 2 years and the station manager of my school's radio station.

GPA 3.9, varsity track and field, California Scholastic Federation lifetime member, National Honor Society member, VP/Secretary of at least 3 clubs, part-time job, hospital volunteer, nursing home volunteer, etc. etc. etc.

I refuse to disclose ACT, SAT, and SAT II scores though.

One thing you will learn real quick is that none of this shit means anything once you get into college. Professors don't care what you've done in the past. Another thing that is shitty, at least at my highschool, was advanced placement, or AP classes. I was told in highschool that I would be able to exempt these courses once I got to college if I got at least a 3 on the AP test. This is a bunch of bullshit. I loaded down in highschool with AP biology, physics and chemistry, and the first thing my advisor told me was if I didn't make a perfect score on the AP test, to not even think about placing out of these classes. They may look good, but don't try to place out of college courses even if you did well on the AP tests because you will fuck yourself big time. Oh, and no one graduates college in 4 years unless you major in underwater basket-weaving.

My high school gpa was like a 4.3, I think because of the way they rated AP classes.

My SAT score was 1380 and I still kick myself for not taking it over again.
    I can do it

    I WILL be a size 5.

Most universities will give you credit if you score at least a 3 (or 4, depending on the school) on the AP test. My senior year, I took calculus, AP physics, spanish 4, AP english, AP government, and weight training. I didn't take any AP tests, but I would not reccommend placing out of anything, even if you can...unless you totally ace the AP. You are right though, that what you get on these tests doesn't mean shit in college though.

Btw, I graduated in 4.....BS in biopsychology (like neuroscience). I wanted exercise physiology.

Yeah, most schools will give you credit, but trying to skip entry level courses in college is dumb, and you will most likely regret it later. Damn, i guess some do graduate in 4 years. If I took 15 hourse each semester for 4 years, I still would fall short of a chemistry degree by 10 hours, which is why im not graduating on time.

If I took 3 more classes, I could have also minored in history. I even took extra shit that I didn't need, like an extra english class. Ugh.

every chemistry after basic chemistry is a bitch. Overall, organic has been the most time consuming in terms of lab and studying.

you did the best in organic? damn. I didn't do bad, it's just that lewis structures aren't my thing, so I had to spend pointless hours a day just practicing how to draw them when I should have learned it in general chem.

I did better in O-Chem, too, but that's because I took Gen Chem when I was a freshman and I wasn't used to "college life" yet.

I got a 1200 on my SAT's but I'm Canadian so it didn't matter - we wrote them anyway just for fun. That still got me offers from a few places though. USC was the best one...$40,000 a year...damn...and that was fifteen years ago.

I think I got something like 900 on my SATs. I really didn't give a shit...I just needed to score something like 700 to get into the "affordable" state university I went to (i.e. they accept anyone who isn't a total moron).

I don't know what my GPA was. I was always on the honor roll, so I figure it wasn't all that bad.

Geeze the boards full of geniuses. I sorta the other way around I had a 3.4 gpa but i got a 27 on my act which is decent. The whole ap classes are weird. I figured their college classes so just take em in college. Plus college classes you have some one who really knows what their talking about and not just reading from a book.

    28/didn't take it/3.85

I took the ACT 3 times. I was fighting mono during all three. The first time, 28, I actually fell asleep during the reading section. Ironically, that was my highest score. My other two were 23 and 25 I beleive.

I got a 3.5 in High School and did not get higher because I did not study. My SAT I got a 950 from my first and only attempt and did not "study" or non of that crap.

College is important but highly overrated (Other then the parties ;-)), IMO. I mean, why do you HAVE to go to school in order to be "considered" successfull?

No one said you have to go to college to be successful. However, college does a lot more for you than just provide you with a piece of paper. There is no way I'd be where I am now without my college degree.

I had poor work ethic, because everything was too easy.. so my GPA reflected that. It was like a 2.6 or something.. but I scored a 32 on the ACT, and took honors classes.
I only went to college for one year, and decided that I wasnt ready. Now that I have been in the working worls for a few years, I may go back soon. I dont see myself being where I want to be in life, without going to school. Also, now that I have motivation I will have a 4.0. Cake walk.

Never took SAT/ACT, scored 93 on my ASVAB which wound up having military recruiters fighting over me. Then the Navy was offering a signing bonus if I went into Nuke School, but that meant Subs and I said fuck that. Then I went on to get my AAS focusing on Computers where I had a 4.0 and perfect attendance I'm such a dork..

Ummm... 1330 SAT the second time around. I was a slacker in HS, but still somehow got like a 3.4. In college on the Cape, graduated with a 3.01. I dont care, I graduated and am making good money regardless of my GPA.

Yeah, I'm in my junior year and my G.P.A. is like a 2.6 or something, I honestly didn't bother to look at my last report card closely. I had honors math, english, and science freshman year and then I just stepped back and said "This is a waste of my young life" and dropped all of them. I have a problem with the concept of homework. I guess I'll be taking the ACT soon. The only test I've taken so far is the PSAT, or preliminary SAT. That was based on precentile's and i scored in the 95th percentile of people planning to attend college, so that was pretty damn good good. I figure I'll pull out something real solid on my ACT and colleges should overlook my grades, cause I've done sports and student council, etc. If they don't then fuck 'em, I'll go sell dope.

The only person to ever have shitty grades and still get into Yale with an SAT score of 1500 was Zach Morris, and that only made Jesse Spanno jealous, so Slater beat up Preppy to protect his momma, and Screech was still a douchebag.

Damn Jake 32/36 on the ACT. WOW. Sounds like my bro, who got a 1580/1600 on the SAT. Freakin smarties.
Motivation is necessary in college though and you made a good decision to try working for a bit. A lot of smart people flunk out of college because they lack motivation or things are too easy, so they just coast and do the bare minimum. People with full rides used to make fun of my dad because he would be studying in college, yet they would be partying.......They flunked out though and my dad ended up going to med school and skipping a year of residency though.
