Harnesses infra-red instead of just visible light as current solar cells do, so in theory you could aim it at a steaming pile of shit and charge your cellphone.

It would be awesome to get something like that working
I wonder though.. Wouldnt this work as insulation from heat since it would convert it to energy? 2 birds with 1 stone for the desert

I was thinking use hot water panels filled with glycol to absorb the heat during the day while the electric panels face the sun and make energy from that, then invert them at night and use the infrared from the heated liquid stored during the day in the hot water panels.
