Been a night person since I was 3, Mom told me she used to wake up at 3 in the morning, see the light in my bedroom on and come in to see me wide awake building something with my blocks. But she couldn't figure out how I got the light on since it was too high to reach until one night she heard someone in the kitchen and spied on me getting a ruler out of the drawer, walking to my room, using it to flip the switch and then returning the ruler to the kitchen.
When I was single I used to get off work, go home, nap for a few hours then wake up and stay out until 4 or 5 in the morning.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I don´t know what it is about the night but I really like it, of course I do like a sunny day at the beach but the night is great, even just walking around is darkly sweet.

I like the solitude of an empty night. When most people are sleeping and the heat of the baking sun has long drifted into the atmosphere, I can think more clearly and focus on ideas without any annoyances of daylighters and their relentless banter.Originally Posted by Vieope

Yes! I am fond of big empty spaces also, streets too. My country is full of colonial houses, big beautiful buildings, huge public squares. It is the time when most people are not working, they are usually looking for something else. It is sort of evil, raw, it is great.Originally Posted by maniclion
I like the lights also, it reminds me of bladerunner.
Day. The people who go out at night are freaks.![]()

I voted night, but meant day.![]()

i'm a night person and so are my kids. it provides a certain shelter, peace and seclusion. you can go about your life without a cacophony of distractions from day dwellers. i am not a very social person and living at night makes it easy to avoid people.
Don't look back ~ You're not going that way!
I notice the difference when I meet some friends in the night, like I said, they are usually looking for something else, drinks, parties, movies, food. They are more fun and easy to talk.Originally Posted by rockgazer69

That is the evil and raw part I was talking about. Well not evil, since it is such a strong word but orgasmic feeling in the air perhaps?Originally Posted by PreMier
I like both night and day...
The cool summer night with stars up above, relaxing just dozing in and out of thought. Or perhaps out with some friends, having a few drinks and just talking, shooting some pool or dancing.
On the other hand, a nice morning... fog laying heavy in the hills, sitting out on the porch in a thick sweater with a mug of coffee in hand. Watching the sun rise and just mentally stretching out and getting ready for the day to come.
The down side of liking both day and night is that its hard on sleep. So I tend to stay up a little later and study, and dont wake up until 7:30 on school days. Wouldnt mind getting into the practice of doing the 10PM bed thing on week nights, with early wake ups... then staying up a little later on the weekends.
Try to work in a thick sweater with a mug of coffee in hand where I live.Originally Posted by Eggs

Hrmmm, how far are you from the equator?
I bet even in Brazil in the early morning its almost cold enough to wear a sweater.
A very thing one
Though a hairy back would probably work just as well![]()
I am not close, but it really doesn´t matter, all the country is hot, all the time. Only in the very south you may think about a sweater.Originally Posted by Eggs
I grew up in the Fiji Islands.. and its pretty similar in distance from the Equator... of course having the ocean all around probably kept the temperature a bit cooler.
In Fiji in the Winter a sweater was pretty common, especially for the locals who had lived there their whole lives and any minute change in temperature was a big deal.
Damn Fiji must be great. I heard good stuff about it.
Yeah, its nice. I woldnt want to live there full time again though. It would be a nice summer getaway for sure.
The culture is fun and laid back, the beaches are superb and the partying is a good time... but its definitely a culture where you could let the mind go to waste.
Which is why its a good vacation spot
Anyways, if you get a chane I definitely recommend a visit. If you want traditional vacation (beaches and sun) stay in the North West near Nadi. When you get down closer to the capital (between Sigatoka and Suva) it gets quite wet. That said, alot of culture to be had in Suva. The other places are sanitized for your vacation pleasure.
Not soon but I will visit it one day for sure.Originally Posted by Eggs

Night time from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.
back for the first time....
Btw Eggs, you, european traveler, did you experience the 6 months of only night in Scandinavia?
V - Sounds good, I hope you get to experience Fiji someday... its something you wont forget.
Well, while I was in Sweden the last time I was there over the Summer, so experienced Midsummers and the long periods of sunlight. Starting in 1999 I lived in Iceland for 1 1/2 years though, and got to experience 2 winters there. It was an adventureThe long nights are hard though, with limited day light, and clouds can easily lower the 1 or 2 hours of daylight to none for several days at a time. I was working nights on and off during the period, so there were times when I didnt see the sun for a month or two. Its hard on the mind. Makes the summer that much better though.
I prefer the summers in Sweden.
Anywho, I'm going to the gym for real now![]()

Mornings are great, especially after being up all night, you walk down to the beach and stand waist deep in the water as you watch the sunrise and then you meander into the nearest open diner by the beach for breakfast before you hit the hay.Originally Posted by Eggs
