Thread: motley crue

my boy went to one of their first shows in florida 2 weeks ago, and he said it was the worst concert ever.

but then i talked to a few guys in CT who went to another show, and they said it was great.

so i guess it depends if they decide to show up or not

Got my tickets for March 17!

Goin this weekend in Moline, IL !!! My wife got me 16th row center for Valentines Day!

Dude that SO rocks. THAT is romance we guys can understand

Saw Motley Crue 5 years ago and liked the show. The four original guys were in that one.

I am in the dark about the Crue.

Loved their early stuff: Too Fast For Love. Shout at the Devil.

I liked a lot: Theatre of Pain

I didn't like: Girls, Girls, Girls.

I sort of liked: Dr. Feel Good.

And everything after that, was average at best.

But....that needs to be thrown aside. The Crue has some great tunes and image and very importantly for me:

They remind me of my Youth!!!!!

my favorite band and always has been. after the original split up i lost interest because without vince they aint shit.

sort of liked dr. feelgood? i respect your opinion bro but that album cant be topped in my book.

my concert isnt until september. i just hope they can avoid being incarcerated until then. thats asking a lot i know.

BP ... have you read their book? It's amazing they lasted as long as they did. If you haven't read it and you're a fan, read it.

If the tickets weren't so much, I'd buy some. I just don't think they'll rock like they did years ago. Lee drum solo included his entire kit rotating above the crowd - AWESOME

2 tickets cost me $180 ..... ummm that includes my parking pass though.

I took my niece to see the Crew in the 80's when they were doing the "Shout at the Devil" tour and playing smaller venues right before they became big.

It was a killer show but was so loud I had to go outside. I actually sat out front and listened to the concert it was that loud.

Did NOT like Theater of Pain, barely like GGG. Dr. Feelgood I never even bothered buying. For me, it stopped after Shout when Vince stopped singing from the belly and started nasaling up and screaching. Hey, I gotta have SUMIN cause guitar playin aint it when it comes to The Crue. Mick was and probably always will be the absolute worst player to make it to the big time.

I like them all ... but not being a guitar player, I couldn't tell if Mick was good or not, but he certainly wasn't a showy player. Nikki, the bass player was more animated than Mick.

What you take from a band live is all very personal. V Player will look for technical ability in the guitarist where I, not very musical, looks for showmanship. And the concert I saw, Tommy Lee's drum solo was the best I've seen. I'm sure there are other drummers who might be technically better, but anyone who tells a story while his kit is rotated left/right/back and forth and can put down a great beat, gets from me.

he is the best drummer imo too nt. when i saw them last, tommy was in his cage upside down and then they started playing ac/dc "back in black." thats something i will never forget.

I LOVE Tommy!!! He is an Awesome drummer IMO Gettin ready to go to the show Friday night. Will let you all know how "The CRUE" rocked

Actually no. For instance, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden are also some of the worst players ever, but I like them very much. A lot , in fact. Mick Mars is a veritable stage daredevil compared to Dave Murray. I look for the overall package in a player. Mick had it in the first two albums with some great riffing and tasteful, if not technical, solos. But he kinda lost it after Shout. He had some moments on GGG and some other songs here and there, but not like he had it on Shout. Steve Vai is not even human when it comes to ability, but while I respect him, he doesnt do much for me. I could never pay to go see him live.

Well...I'm in the middle of recording 2 cd's worth of material...Sounds like Tool, Boston, and the movie Tron thrown into a blender...However, it is just a studio project for now, as I haven't been able to find the players for it...Hard to find a good vocalist/frontman in Dallas you know?...Other than that, I'm a drummer for hire...So if you ever hear of anyone who is serious and needs a drummer, pass it along...Rock On my friend!

BTW...Hope Dave whips HHH's ass in a few weeks...

Seems like its harder to find a good metal drummer in Dallas than it is a singer /frontman, bro. I havent kept up with the local scene here in forever, though. You know Chad Allen from Guitar Center? Sounds like you and him could hook up. And thanks about Dave, Im really looking for him to be able to pull the storyline and get the title. But they're writting this as they guage fan reaction at each show, according to him, so anything could happen.




We're sitting in the upper/lower section for The Crue. Where are you guys sitting? I hope you didnt pay the $300 for floor seats. BTW, Tommy Lee is the only reason I am going. The ONLY reason.

I do agree that after Shout, they became a little more subdued in their music. I personally like their first album the best.

Will do. I'm so excited.

I think we are in the lower middle section...I'll check, my brother has the tickets...Don't know Chad at G.C., is he a vocalist?...I usually go to the store off 75...Interesting to see how they handle big Dave, hope they give him a fair shot...You never know, they tanked Goldberg's character (my personal favourite) and he was solid gold...They seem to be pushing guys quickly through the storylines, sometimes at the expense of their overall character development...Having said that, I think they should let Dave have his run...(for a while!)...

Chad is a bass player and probably the number one man in GC right now and he works at the Arlington location. He's also one of my very best friends and the only one I trust to handle my business or sell me guitars. His style sounded similar to what you're currently doing.


As far as Dave, unfortunately there realy is no such thing as a character " push" in WWE. The writers write the shows pretty much based on fan reaction at each event. The fact that Dave was getting bigger and bigger pops against HHH is what made them decide to write more for his character as a possible antagonist to HHH. Each show or event they would have Dave do or say something that was somewhat ambiguously antagonistic against Trips, like standing up to him when HHH was pissed and yelling at him for making the last man in in the Elimination chamber. Remember Dave stood up after apologizing and told HHH "Now YOU'RE starting to piss me off!". The fan reaction after that bit at the arena was enough to solidify the fact that the people wanted him to break away from Evolution. Hence why he won The Rumble and why they wrote HHH as trying to manipulate him to Smackdown. Should be one hell of match and its already being called THE most anticipated match of the year. I agree. Its going to be even bigger than Cena and JBL.


Ive never been to this place where The Crue is playing but Im told its a bigger version of the old Bronco Bowl where they played on the Shout at The Devil tour. If thats the case, its going to be a great view from everywhere. What Im hoping for is that Tommy brings back his rotating riser. When you stop to think about it, Tommy WAS The Crue. It most certainly wasnt Vince, even though he was the frontman. And we can definately forget about Mick. Nikki might have been "da man" in the media, but it was Tommy that made them in the music. He gave them their feel with his hip hop influenced style and almost lead guitarist style showmanship. Thats not just my humble opinion, its also the opinion of lots of people Ive talked to from the 80s that are going to this show. Unfotunately this tour isnt drawing very positive reviews. People Ive talked to on other boards that have gone dont have too many positive things to say. Mainly that they just dont seem to be in sync with each other. Who knows.

I seen them here 2 weeks ago here in Ottawa.
Really good show.
They played almost every song from too fast for love and shout at the devil.
It blew me away, better than dr feelgood tour. All original members.Midgets, and of course GIRLS. Drum solo sucked( I like Tommy normally) new tech stuff, not good if your a drummer. Vince doesnt have the stamina some other rock singers may have but still very good , and the crowd had no problem fillin in his lines.
Mick looked really sore(he just had hip replaced)
Id say Tommys titty cam was a high lite.
If you get the chance catch the show, you may never get another chance to hear one of rocks baddest bands( i mean this in a good way) lets face it they are now livin legends.I really doubt the tour will last as long as planned, I mean sumthins gonna happen.
Oh I also just wanted to mention that if you didnt know, simple plan(from montreal) wrote thier new track with NIKKI. IF I DIE TOMMOROW..............................
I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars................
