    Ad-ware Question!

When I run my Ad-Ware scan, it shows 12 critical items (including VX2 malware). When I proceed to delete the items it just freezes on delete & doesn't complete the process.... I've updated the current definitions online...any advice/ideas what's up?

Try booting up in "safe mode" (hit F8 on boot) and run it again.

Some spyware will not let you remove it by regular anti-spyware programs. Download hijack this.

It will give you a list of your registry values. Find the one you want and delete it. Be careful. Do not delete anything if you don't know what it is. If you do, your computer may not work right.

When your computer is first turned on and after you the first screen disappears, hit F8 to get into safe mode as Robert said.

Run Ad-Aware / Spybot or what you have then to clean out the adware. Otherwise the adware may interfere with removal, causing crashes, etc.

I had some really nasty pop-ups that took me 4 programs to finally remove including booting up in safe mode and running them all, I was only using the Windows XP firewall that comes with service pack 2, but I added a second firewall called Zone Alarm to prevent this crap.
