Celebrity Fit Club, Biggest Loser, Etc.

These shows are propagating TERRIBLE nutritional and dietary habits! Both of them require 3+ hours of vigorous exercise, coupled with 1200 calorie diets. Then, if the contestants don't lose the required amount of weight PER WEEK, they are booted from the show. But the required amount is ridiculous! They just told one guy (5'8", 235lbs.) that his goal weight loss was 5 pounds. 5 pounds in one week!!! No wonder America is so screwed up about nutrition and healthy eating.

Sorry, after my day, just had to rant.

Rant away. I truly don't think those shows have any thing at all to do with nutrition. It's anything to get viewers. Whatever brings them in...

I see no problem with it. IMO, most peeps are better off on a diet such as this than they would be staying 50+ lbs overweight.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

But they end up gaining it all back + some, learn NOTHING about healthy life-long eating habits, can NOT sustain 3 hours of exercise a day with regular lives, and are worse off than if they had begun a healthy program to begin with. And it also leads America to believe that 5 pounds a week is totally doable.

If I did 3 hours a day of vigorous exercise, squeezing in 30-45 wouldn't seem so bad afterwards. Plus this is showing America that weight does not melt away with a simple pill, it takes restricted diet and hard work. There is no "Sit on the Couch and Burn the Pounds Away Pill" not even Ice or Crack cause they make you jittery and not able to sit still. Maybe they should invent a La-Z Boy with a heart rate monitor that if it dips below a certain level you have to get up and jog in place until it reaches a certain point and then you can sit or else it will eject you htrough your roof.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
