    I'm a goomba

Alright, I just have to tell everyone how humiliated I was yesterday. At the gym, I usually go with my partner but he had to do some chores before he got there. So I didn't want to wait around and I went myself. It was chest/bicep day, but I decided to hit inclines first. Usually we hit flat first, but I wanted to change up the routine a little bit. So I did inclines fine and then went to flats. I was doing 4x8 on the flats and increasing each lift by about 20 lbs. So on my last set, I was feeling good and I did 6 and then hesitated but decided to try for my 7th. That's when I turned into a goomba. I got to the bottom of my lift and then started to put it up and then my triceps gave out. I started to fail and the weight was going back down. Man...it feels like your about to die with all these thoughts going in your head...like damn, I'm a stupid ass. Someone help! But I was pretty much stuck there in the middle for about 3 seconds (like Tiger Woods hanging chip at the 16th at the Masters)...then someone runs over and saves me. I get up and feel super relived and it's my workout partner. Talk about timing. If he was one second later, I would have been assed out and would have totally humiliated myself in the gym. Granted I know my limits, I mean I've been lifting for about 9 months...I just always hold high expectations of myself when it comes to anything that is solo. I guess you can say I'm not too competitive with others, but I'm super competitive with myself. I just bruised my ego a lot...and feel like a goomba...but I just needed to share my "I'm a dumb ass story."

Someone once posted a video clip of a guy getting "pinned". I'm not sure if it was fake or not but it was sure entertaining to watch!

My gym custom makes all thier own equipment. The Flat Bench has a set of adjustable safety arms that are there to save your neck should you suddenly reach muscle failure without warning and without a spot. I'm not to proud to admit I've found myself crawling out from under the bar sheepishly after trying to get "just one more rep"

Anybody who says they've never been pinned is a damn liar.

Or been lucky enough to always have a spotter.

I have never gotten stuck but I have gone for heavier weights than i should have. This happens on chest a lot. One week I will have a smooth set of 65's, then the next minute I am exhausted at 55's. People are always looking to see what weight I'm pushing so I feel like a tard when I pick up 65's, crank out only 4 or 5 reps and sit the f*ck back down.

Ego? I was sticking to the thread there buddy Sometimes in BBing we have weaker strength days and try to push harder than our bodies can handle. Such as my above statement. But you already knew that, didn't you?

Ohhhhh... I need to get back into a routine - my butt is getting back to where I started from! It's so much harder to get motivated when your life is out of wack.

I hear ya...it's hard to get back to a standard routine. And you don't wanna have to start from the bottom again. But in the end, it's all well worth it!
