O_o wtf???

I have convinced myself that I liked this movie but I don't f$@%^@!ing understand it. Anyone wanna help me dive into the cult classic and get a better understanding of it? Start with this: How did him dieing help anyone out in the end? Doesn't it just result in the movie practicly never happening? I see how the house doesn't get burned therefore this doesn't happening therefore this doesn't result therefore the chick and the blue bunny don't die, but couldn't he have done the same thing by not killing himself and not hooking up with the chick or something? There were so many other ways than killing your blasted self! And why exactly did the world end? Just 'cuz?

Anyway, someone help me out. I'm very open minded, but I'm also absent minded, so most of the events went over my head anyway

The movie follows his own logic, he was not supposed to be alive and he needs to die to make things right. A lot of patterns must occur. Something made of metal must be used to get that effect, the jet turbine. That book written by the old woman, philosophy of time travel, has all the rules. The book exists on the web.

But you gotta like the movie just because of the unusual feeling you get.
