Fostering stupidity Tex. homophobes shut door on kids

The foster care system is overwhelmed in Texas, like everywhere else. But unlike everywhere else, Texas is poised to become the first state in the nation to bar gays from being foster parents, not because they haven't performed the job adequately, but because their lifestyle doesn't fit the Ozzy and Harriet image of who parents should be that slumbers peacefully in the ossified brains of Texas legislators.

Why does this matter in New York? Because the same brand of non-logic is found here too, and all across the country. It is the same thinking that kicks gays out of the military when we desperately need soldiers. That causes employers to not hire gay people who could do good work. Even if homosexuality revolts you, you must realize that bias against gays hurts more than gays. Now it's going to harm children in Texas. The state goes begging for foster homes, and packs kids into the few homes it finds, but would exclude gays by law rather than let them care for kids, a job they do as well as anybody else, if not better. That isn't sound public policy; it's spite.

    Texas is behind in everything.

The foster system here is messed up anyway, I say we just ship'em to Canada, they will be taken better care of there anyway, plus the titty bars are better up there.

No way they'd rather send the kids to a man and woman family where the man has brainwashed the wife and has her cover his pederast tendencies while he builds his harem of little angels.... permanently fucking their lives far beyond what Mom and Mom or Dad and Dad would ever have done.

I live in Texas and I don't think it is right for homosexuals to be raising children. It wouldn't matter what state I lived in because I would feel the same way. I'm not saying I hate gay people but I will say that children are very impressionable and it is hard enough on foster kids to be shuffled around anyway. I don't think throwing them in an enviroment like this would be good for the children. If homosexuals are allowed to raise children I don't think men should raise boys and women should raise girls. O.K. I said it.

Homosexuality isn't contagious, I know several folks who were raised by gay parents and none of them are gay themselves, whereas all of the gay folks I know were raised by a mother and father in fact I know a bisexual guy with a lesbian sister who lived in a "Ozzy and Harriet" home.

I think all you homophobes fear that if gayness is no longer a phobia you may let your pansiness show.

New Jersey found that a person who happened to be Homosexual COULD MOST DEFINITELY BE a parent and a DAMN GOOD ONE! They too had trouble placing children in families that REALLY WANTED them and WOULD HONESTLY CARE FOR them. There was a program on tv about it about 2 years or so ago and Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson were interviewed and of course damned the whole idea but were asked WHERE WERE YOU AND THE "CHRISTIANS" WHEN WE ASKED YOU? New Jersey DID a LOT of homework and really searched long and hard and found people who are Homosexual CAN BE GOOD PARENTS. And having a parent or parents who are Homosexual DOES NOT MEAN that their children will become Homosexual. That was proved.

Texas is backwards in quite a few things. There is definitely a social stigma to having two parents of the same sex. I would be very surprised if a child being raised in such a situation were not poked fun of quite frequently.

This doesn't mean that they should not be allowed at all though. In order for cultural acceptance to spread, it needs to be allowed.

    Hi Morte,

The ROOT of the hatred that is displayed and felt by people COMES from what they are TAUGHT - BY "RELIGION". Probably 99% of the hatred and the bigotry and the bias. What is VERY interesting about that is that GOD HIMSELF and CHRIST HIMSELF NEVER ONE TIME - THEMSELVES - EVER SAID ONE WORD against BiSexual and Homosexual people. NEVER.

For a very long time Black people were HATED because that HATE WAS TAUGHT. Fortunately Black Human Beings are treated better than they used to be - but there still is room for improvement. Black people were viewed as "less than Human" and even "animals" - the same applied to American Indians too - and THAT came from "religion" as well more often than not.

I really feel climate has a LOT to do with people and how they "believe" or not and what they "believe" - just like in the Middle East where there is a LOT of extremism there too - RELIGIOUS!!! The heat, high humidity, in some cases sand blowing everywhere and in everything, low employment - or none - I think these things way heavily on people's INability to think straight. Most unrest in the world exists in climates that are extreme - ast least as far as heat is concerned, you really do not find the crap in the cooler or colder climates so much. Most religious zealots exist in hotter climates.

Wow John you really hate Religion!

You do realize that there are just as many people that don't practice a religion, that share the same beliefs with regards to the Gay Communittee.

Please remember Religion is not the root of the problem. People and there ignorance are.

This is an open minded viewpoint John Just so you know

    Hi IainDaniel,

Basically I have NO USE for "religion" as it exists. Now and in the past. Its record is why. As with everything in life there is good and there is bad but with "religion" there is far too much I have no use for whatsoever. What they "do" and what they SAY they "do" there is a huge void and as far as God and Christ, there is a HUGE VOID between God/Christ and "religion".

People and there ignorance are for sure. And their stupidity as well. People can be stupid as well - by choice.

Anyone with an open mind and would BE objective and TRULY LOOK CLOSELY at "religion" from ALL aspects ALL information ALL sources would probably come up with the same conclusions.

John you are foolish to believe that anything would be perfect. Religion being one of them.

There are many good people that practice religion and envoke the practices of that religion in a good nature. Unfortunately you just seem to focus in on areas that are negative to some perspectives.

Remember it is the people practicing the religion, not the religion itself that causes the problems that you are concerned about.
