tuff sport..good lucklet us know how it turns out.
I was curious if anyone here at IM has participated in the sport of Triathlon (or duathlon).
My first race is coming up in about a month, and I encourage everyone here to give it a go (especially if you need to get that damned bodyfat % down)

Lately I am not into sports that doesn´t involve a couch or a bench.
It is definitely the toughest sport in the world (if it is a full triathlon). Good for you that you have the heart to try it out![]()

I've been doing them for two years. Gotten up to Olympic distance and doing a 1/2 Ironman in September. I agree that it rocks and is a good way to challenge yourself.
I'm hoping to try a full Ironman next year. For those who don't know, that's 2.4 miles swimming (400 laps of a pool) followed by 112 miles biking and then a full marathon running (26 miles). Takes the average person about 13 hours. It's insane.
Good luck to you!

Hey, sorry I was unable to respond sooner, I was out all of yesterday. Anyway to answer a few of your questions:Originally Posted by Cris2Blis
I've been training since December, however since I live in Ontario I was forced to spend the entire winter on my indoor training (no way I'am bikeing when it's -40 outside)
My BF % has dropped down but I haven't measured it recently, have to check that soon.
By how my training has changed I assume your relating to lifting? I still lift 4x/week, high rep-range, less weight though.
I also intend on competing in a sprint distance race: 800m swim, 30km bike and a 5k run

Hey, good luck on working your way up to the full ironman distance. I actually had the privledge of living in Hawaii for several years and was fortunate to spectate at the ironman world championships in Kona (97-99).Originally Posted by ponyboy
Have you completed any races so far this year?

First duathlon is in three weeks (Olympic distance). I've done mostly running races so far this year, a 30km, a 10km and a full marathon. Now I just have to really pick up my cycling.
Being in Ontario sucks. I'm halfway hoping my girlfriend gets transferred to Texas so that I can move there with her and train outside year round.
