    Best personal training certification???

Im looking into becoming a personal trainer and was wondering what certifications are the best. I've heard that ACE is good, what about NESTA? Any help would be great! Thanks

NSCA either CSCS or CPT are the best IMO. NASM is very good also.

Those ones are o.k. Scirion Institute of Exercise Physiology probably offers the toughest proctored exams in the country so if you really want a challange, get theirs.

    Proctored exams only.

ISSA is o.k. but they allow you to take the exam at home. There are a lot of people with the ISSA certification that never actually took the exam because no one was there monitoring them! You should only go to a proctored program like ACE, Cooper or Scirion Institute of Exercise Physiology. If a certification company can't do it right, they shouldn't do it at all.

By the way... what's the crack on Mexicans about? That comment is so stupid and offensive that it shouldn't even be allowed on this board.

Checked up on the Scirion stuff, looks pretty tough. Only problem I have is that they call themselves an exercise physiology institute, kind of a misnomer. The difference between exercise phys degree and a personal trainer certificate is like the difference between professional baseball and a high school ball.

Everyone knows that theres a lot of mexicans in construction because companies can pay them less. I know a guy who lost money in ot hours and he gets laid off more in the wintertime because his company hired mexicans.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say there is way to much of all this politically correct bullshit going on these days. People need to lighten up a bit.

Lighten up? I think I speak for even more people when I ask... "What are you some kind of freakin Nazi?" Politics has nothing to do with it. Did it ever occur to you that the reason your "buddy" gets laid off is because he does half the work a Mexican can do and his boss finally wisened up and canned his lazy ass!

Dale, I have an ex phys degree and there are different types of ex phys degees. Some college programs are pathatic, just like some cert agencies are pathetic. I know a gal with an ex phys degree who had that "attitude" and she couldn't pass the Scirion Institute exam. She thought she was so smart and believed she was better than certified personal trainers because her daddy paid $80,000 for her education but when it came down to it... she wasn't as smart as she thought.

I agree, but that is an individual thing. If you take the same person and have them do both, the exercise phys degree should show to be better. Some people are also just horrible at taking tests.

First off I'm not a racist. I have black friends and mexican friends to. And some kind of Nazi, wtf. Have you read a history book. I'm just trying to preserve the American Dream to go out and get a job and start a family. Maybe you should look up the term politically correct as you obviously are unaware of the meaning.

Second, My friend friend is huge, 6' 4" and could bench 485 before he got testicular cancer. He doesn't slack off at work. I've seen him deadlift his Suburban when it got stuck in snow. He seriously couldve went into strongman competitions had he not gotten cancer.

And this will hurt America in the long run. More and more mexicans or other foreigners coming into America and getting jobs means less and less oppurtunities for you and your children. I'd have no problem with mexicans coming into the US on a work visa and only taking jobs that Americans absolutely don't want to do.

I'd hate to be the first to publicly say this to you, but you are a racist. Having black or mexican friends doesn't make you less of a racist. It simply makes you a phoney.

By the way.... when your Mexican "friends" read this post. They will cease knowing you.
