I concur, no more virgins for me, at least not by 1st choice anyway. Maybe insurgents have small cocks, cuz I find virgins to be the most uncomfortable lays ever, and my wiener is of modest proprtions.

Well, can you come up with a better plan? Let's hear it. The problems in the Middle East HAVE ALWAYS BEEN because of their "religion" and their "religious beliefs". They BELIEVE that if they kill us they will receive great rewards in their afterlife including 42 virgins (or whatever the current "count" is!). And I am not sure that the virgins HAVE TO BE Female either I don't know...

I know this: we can not keep on as we currently are in that area without losing more Men and at great financial expense. I see only two options: keep on the present course and bankrupt ourselves and have many many many more of our Men die or drop a few hundred big ones!

Their "religion" is what has this entire region in such a horrible state - and ALWAYS has been!!!

Let's hear your ideas.

Thanks for the quotes! And I am sure there are many more in this same vein. Many have seen the dangers of religion and religious extremists. This country (USA) was founded with the idea of trying to prevent the abuses of the past of religion and to have a such a country that ALL could truly live in peace and harmony...

i hardly think blaming their religion is the solution. ive read the koran and i believe there are some wonderful truths in there that teach people to live good upstanding lives. unfortuneatly like most religions men have misinterpreted and corrupted what, at its roots is a wonderful thing. if i was to suggest something to try for such a highly complicated situation with no easy solution i would say we need to use positive propaganda, to help public sentiment, both here and over there. i have spoken to many soldiers who have returned from tours in the middle east (im contimplating enlisting) and most are frustrated that the positives never make the press. like the fact there are more schools and hospitals in operation than before we arrived. people have more opportunities for jobs now. things like electricity and drinking water are better than they have been in the previous 25 years. the majority of iraqis are not the ones going after our soldiers. while many do not want an occupying force in their new country, (who would?) they understand that it is needed in a fledgling republic such as theirs. i hardly feel killing millions of people with devastating weapons is the solution to the problem john. although you do sound like a man in the region who had a lot of influence in the past. sadam husien gassed 8 million kurds in the 80's. thats generally considered genocide though.

The SOURCE(S) of the problem is PARAMOUNT - ALL OF THEM!! - it MUST BE RECOGNIZED AND KNOWN before ANY solutions can be determined. And EVERYTHING MUST BE CONSIDERED in order to FIND the problem and correct it ONCE AND FOR ALL!

If "religion" were not behind the problem BIGTIME I would have nothing to say. I wish I did not have to make that statement which IS A FACT. This ENTIRE region of the world has a HISTORY of murder, unrest, you name it! "Religion" has been at the heart of their problems! See for yourself. And I suspect the climate of the region plays a BIG ROLE as well. I do not think that can be discounted ever.

Do I WANT to destroy everyone there - HELL NO! I certainly do NOT want ANY of our Men losing their lives over this BULLSHIT that HAS EXISTED for the ENTIRE HISTORY OF THIS REGION of the world either. Its not only Muslims who have 'rewritten' and corrupted their religion. Christians are just as bad and hypocritical- especially (some) of the "born again variety". Will you please JohnH stop tarring the entire Middle East with your generalisations. Why not mention a bit about the nastier shades of Zionism which lurk in that area, which are as unwholesome as the worst Muslim or Christian 'fundamentalists' It is also Western manipulation and interference (mainly the US and the UK but also France) that have created the situation we see today.

i completly agree nick that this is a gross generalization of the situation in the middle east. here is the story though, in every region and history of every people ever to inhabit the earth we will find evil men and a war torn society. it is said every generation must have its war, and it is pretty much true. this does not make mankind in general evil. nor does it necissarilly make groups, classes, or societies evil (though they might be). while war is bad, good can be the result.
