Being a dog properly - blocking etiquette?

Saw something tonight and I was wondering what everyone thinks the proper way to approach this is. Had a new girl come out to play with my volleyball team tonight. Really cute, outgoing, single - brought out by my friend who is in a long term relationship (work mate). He obviously likes her and was flirting with her "harmlessly" .

One of the other guys on our team starts flirting with her like mad, making good conversation, etc. - basically trying to pick her up. Problem is, he also has a long term girlfriend. It was obvious to everyone that he was trying a little too hard to impress her.

So my question was - what do you do when the girl is single, but both guys trying to pick her up have long term girlfriends? Is it only fair to let the guy that first knew her have first shot, or is it just every dog for himself? What would be the right thing to do if you were one of these guys?

Besides of course, the obvious, which is go home to your girlfriend and forget about the whole thing. It was obvious neither of these guys were interested in that situation. Who gets first dibs or should dibs even be involved?
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

That's when I swoop in and cockblock those other two jokers by asking something like...

So Bob... what are you and your girlfriend Sara doing for the 4th of July weekend

lol, i was about to say the same thing. In all honesty, i think it doesnt matter who "talked" to her first. I think it should be every man for himself, in a non agressive way and the girl can decide who she likes as a friend and who she would believe would be a good guy for the long run.

The wolf climbing the hill is hungrier then the wolf on the top of the hill.

I had the same situation at a wedding, a college buddy was getting married and one of the braids maids was looking for some fun. My other buddy was living with his soon to be wife, and the bastard started competing with me ( I hadn't been laid in 2 months) for her. I immediately started talking about his girlfriend ect.....He was pissed but fuck him, I was starving and he had a feast at home.
I don't know if there is any code for guys in this situation but IMO you had the right to block their game with references to their girlfriends..its only fair.

Gotta do what you gotta do.

If you gotta drop the "what is your girlfriend doing line?" to get in, then by all means do it, or be prepared to wack it later in the evening.
