    Thumbs down Smokers Who Workout*RANT*

I'm a pretty easy going person.

If someone wants to kill themselves with smokes, so be it. I really don't care.

I do wish that people who smoke would refrain from doing so right before coming into the gym.

They don't realize that they stink and anything in the gym they touch stinks. Their habit is now invading my space through their disgusting reek. I would rather be subject to smelling cow manure during a workout instead of that damn reeking smoke smell.

    It is a disgusting habit!

After I came home and showered off the stynch, I had just had to rant a little bit.

    OK< I feel better now.

I used to stand in piles of horse manure and shovel it (when working as a groom). Made the mistake of walking into a supermarket onceto do some shopping- without showering. Horrified looks on peoples faces....I couldn't work it out....... If I'd reeked of cigs they wouldn't have even noticed......

Man your full of bullshit. Bet you used to smoke right. Ex smokers complain so much. Go back in time where over half your bodybuilders smoked. Bet the last thing they thought about was the smell of smoke. how about the body odor that rolls off those working out hard. I'll take the smoke over the smelly, stinky ass BO. Now take your gay ass and don't stand so close to them.....

And so does toughy. when i'm over doing inclines with 390 lbs, people aren't running away but coming over in the event that I need a spotter. this thread starter needs to pay more attention to his workout then what ails him in regards to smell when he's walks into a gym. There's alway going be some type of smell in a working area where bodybuilders train. So fuck the smell and get to work as it's part of life in a gym.

Glad I workout at home. Tough

I don't know, I agree with Mr. Guy. It's gross and inconsiderate. But then again the society now a days don't really think about anyone but themselves.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

    Hey Tough Old Man,

    What's your problem?

Your right, I am an ex-smoker. Smoked for 19 years and quite 9 years ago so I would be alive to see my daughter grow up. My WIFE and I both quite and yes my wife is female so my daughter probably would take exception with you thinking I'm gay.

It was a rant. People who smoke stink. You probalby smoke so your defending it.

I bet if you took a poll, most people who don't smoke will say people who do right before coming into the gym smell like sh)t and stink up the place.

    Opinions are like @@sholes.

    Whatever!

I have to admit I would rather smell somebody who has just smoked a joint rather than someone who just smoked a cig.

Back in my 20's I used to be a major pot smoker and have a soft place in my heart for the sacred weed.

I guess I'm so down on tobacco because it was directly responsible for killing two people in my immediate family.

Well sorry you lost family members do to whatever. I'll make sure that should I ever visit the gym you workout in that i shower and be wearing a new pair of gym clothes so as not to incovience you. Well on second thought why don't you just start back up and then it won't matter. Make sure you don't visit the casino's in Vegas where 50% of the folks probably smoke. Bet your world is really messed up when you enter the twight zone of smoking.

there is some old school strongman that used to always be in MILO strength journal that smokes. All of his pictures in the magazine he is performing his lifts either in his garage or in his backyard with a cigarette in his mouth. It is funny as hell seeing him flipping a 900lb tire while smoking.

Now here are 2 babes smoking while on break from the gym. Now as far as I'm concerned they can smell like smoke all they want while working out next to me

I hate people that whine and bitch about smoking too. As long as the person doesn't blow it in my face, its his right to smoke. If he or she wants to come into the gym just after smoking a cigarette that is their business.

There's a guy who works out at my gym, same time as I do in the morning. He smokes a couple right before he comes in. The place reeks when he starts to sweat. I just avoid him.

Hey Mguy bet you go out and do a lot of protesting about any and everything that comes up don't you.

    Actually,

I mind my own business and in fact don't even vote anymore because it is a big waste of time.

I don't protest shi*! I could care less what other people do as long as it don't affect me.

I'm hyper sensitive to tobacco smoke and that's just they way it is. I can smell a smoker from across a room the minute they walk in.

I love the way you think you know me just because I'm an ex smoker. That is tantamount to me saying I know your eating habits because of the liposuction you had performed. I won't do that because I respect the fact that you decided to change your life and do something about it. I did the same thing and part of that change was quiting smoking. Now at 41, I'm in the best shape of my life and my daughter is growing up in a house where neither her Dad or Mom smoke. Hopefully, she will never start.

As far as the two babes in the pic, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. I don't care how good looking a babe is, if they smoke, I don't want nothing to do with them.

Yes, I saw the video of Markus Ruhl shopping and then having a smoke in the parking lot. It's funny, but the guy was huffing and puffing just walking around a grocery store and then the guy goes out and haves a smoke. It's his life, I certainly don't put him on any pedistool just because he's huge.

    Mrguy,

I don't think anyone is condoning cigarette smoking here. It is pretty obvious the harm it can wreak on the human body.

The point that I am trying to drive here is that people have the right to smoke. Not to far back smoking was much more widely accepted. People smoked in bars in restaurants, and many other places. At one point of time there was almost as much smoking going on as drinking. But regardless of that people have the right to smoke if they chose to. They don't need people giving them shit everywhere they go saying.... "Ewwweee can you please go away I'm hypersensitive to tobacco smoke" (Give me a break!) I hear that crap so often. And like someone mentioned here already, it is usually coming from prior smokers. Hell I smoked for 20 years and quit, and my girlfriend still smokes. I can't turn my back on her cause she chooses to smoke. I agree that I am more sensitive to smoke after quitting, and I too can smell a smoker across a room the minute they walk in. This doesn't mean I have to be a snobby prick and cry about it. If I don't like it I just turn and walk away. Like I said before there is consideration factor that both a smoker and non smoker should have. As long as they don't blow their smoke right in your face, and are obeying the smoking laws then you have no right to bitch at em. Hell you used to smoke once yourself. You mean to tell me you can’t even tolerate the smell on someone else. You sure tolerated yourself when you were a smoker. Now in cases of those with allergies…well just the odor left on their clothes should not affect them. If it does, they should relocate.

Actually, smokers can not smell themselves. As an ex-smoker you should know that and no I can not tolerate the smell of smoke on a person or anything for that matter. By saying I can't tolerate it, I actually gives me a headache and makes me feel ill.

I have to travel to Vegas a lot during the year for my business and I'm sad to say after loving Vegas for so many years, I dread having to go. Being in the Casinos makes me physically ill. But, I don't stand in front of the Casinos and preach to people about smoking. I respect their right to do that and just get through it. The only time I go to Vegas when I don't have to is for the Olympia. I'll suffer to go watch that and walk the expo.

I'm not crying about it. I consider others when I'm in the gym and was just expressing an opinion like the peson who posted about hating people who wear gloves when they work out.

I know there is nothing I can do about it and if want to continue going to the gym I've got to live with it.

I was just letting off a little frustration.
