    Question What would you do...

A childhood friend has a gambling debt with a bookie supposedly out looking for him.. From what I hear, he's avoiding the bookie & any association with him... basically refusing to pay up.

My worry is I'll be out with him, run into the bookie & he either shoots us both, or starts wailing on him: a situation I can't really stand by & watch, but it sucks that I'm guaranteed to get my ass beaten in defense of my friend who in reality deserves to get his ass beat.

My only option is really to stop hanging around him.. Kind of sucks, I grew up with the guy, went to college with him, etc.

There's no talking to him: he has what i call an "invincibilty complex", no doubt from his parents covering his ass his whole life. I know he'd deny the entire thing is even happening.

I heard the bookie called his house to speak with his parents, telling them how much trouble their son had gotten himself into & his mother told the bookie she'd call the cops if he called back. Pathetic thing is we're talking about a 26 year old man, not a dumbass teenager.

I hardly think his mother's threat is going to stop a bookie out 7 large..

    I completely agree.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Although good Friends are supposed to stick together through thick and thin it seems like he doesn't care about putting you in harms way.
Tell him how you feel and if that doesn't change his way's ....see ya.

Tell him to pay up or stay the fuck away from you until after the bookie has taken it out of his ass.
