Did you know this?

DID YOU KNOW THIS?

Did you know that 47 countries have re-established their embassies in
Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi current government employs 1.2 million Iraqi
people?

Did you know that 3100 schools have been renovated, 364 schools are under
rehabilitation, 263 schools are now under construction and 38 new schools
have been built in Iraq?

Did you know that Iraq's higher educational structure consists of 20
Universities, 46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers, all
currently operating?

Did you know that 25 Iraq students departed for the United States in
January 2005 for the re-established Fulbright program?

Did you know that the Iraqi Navy is operational?! They have 5- 100-foot
patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a navel infantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq's Air Force consists of three operational
squadrons, which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport
aircraft (under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night,
and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 bell jet rangers?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando
Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000 fully trained
and equipped police officers?

Did you know that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over
3500 new officers each 8 weeks?

Did you know there are more than 1100 building projects going on in Iraq?
They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad
stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electrical
facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received
the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know that 4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary
school by mid October?

Did you know that there are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq and
phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know that Iraq has an independent media that consist of 75 radio
stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

Did you know that the Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004?

Did you know that 2 candidates in the Iraqi presidential election had a
recent televised debate recently?

---- Above facts are verifiable on the Department of Defense website

OF COURSE WE DIDN'T KNOW! WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW? - OUR MEDIA WOULDN'T TELL
US!

The lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves two purposes. It is
intended to undermine the world's perception of the United States thus
minimizing consequent support, and it is intended to discourage American
citizens.

That post is very informative. The mainly liberal media sweeps these kind of facts underneath the carpet.

Why am I not surprised that Fox news and other Conservative media outlets haven't told us these facts.

I don't think anyone denies that positive progress has been made for the Iraqis, why I had to pay for it I will never know. I agree with manic, they are fine, yank our guys out unless that money for oil thing will eventually pan out.

I am the king of all haters.

Mind you, while Clinton was in office I had as much contempt for him, except for the cheating thing, that was pure gold.

It's getting a little old and annoying to see some of you right wingers crying like pussies b/c "the liberal media is spoiling our patriotic war b/c they are not pushing the good things that happen there." Stop it. You're embarrassing yourselves. The media are incompetent on the whole but not conspiratorially hedged against you poor victims who just happen to be conservatives who carry a positive message from Iraq.

The education of IRaqi children and adults, the maintenance of Iraqi military and the general health and welfare of the IRaqi citizens are not the goddam concern or business of the USA....they are the concern of the IRaqi people/government. That's why the US people are cool at best to the 'good news' coming out of IRaq. We just care when we see our soldiers being used for target practice by guerilla soldiers.

Put all the fucking happy faces you want on the rebuilding effort...it don't change what's happened. Estimates of 25,000 to 100,000 dead Iraqis; almost 2000 dead americans. 3X that amount have been wounded. Let's post some pictures of the rebuilding effort alongside some photos of the people shot to bits. Which do you think grabs the US populace's imagination?

And for what again? Why did the US invade? The Rule Of Law....fuck it--it's only worth something if there's political gain in it. After all were doing what's best for those people. Right? The flower of democracy can still be the lynch mob.

Oh yes, let's put a dollar amount on those 'good things' listed in this post. Over one hundred and eighty one billion dollars can buy a lot of shit. Where are the oil revenues to pay for it all? Yeah that's what I thought....Considering the staggering lies, fraud and unaccountability ---billions of dollars missing and the US's Coalition Provisional Authority which slashed tariffs, flattened taxes and threw Iraqi industry wide open to foreign investors (guess who owns much of those wonderful cell phone companies?...it ain't the Iraqis)--- it's just amazing that there's not more good press and good feelings for the war.

Great post busy. I say it was a worthwhile effort, even if we are in for a while. Every soldier counts, but we have still lost less than a single battle in most other wars. Keep it in perspective

Here's a bit of reality, try to leave cloud cuckoo land , some of you.

"Suicide bomber kills 55 as Iraq descends deeper into despair"

"The suicide bombings and death squads have created an atmosphere of terror in Baghdad. There is limited traffic in the streets. Many people with money to travel have left the country. The torrid heat, often in excess of 45C (115F), in a city where there is little air-conditioning due to lack of electricity, is also fuelling a mood of anger and despair."
