what would you do?
this is a true story...
a buddy of mine is a "stay at home dad." he takes care of the kids, finances, etc. his wife has a great job and is the sole source of income. well she just found out last week that he hasnt been honest about the finances with her. he has somehow got them about $60-70,000 in debt. he also has nothing to show for it mind you. he also doesnt offer much of an explanation when she asks him
he spent all this money on. she thought she still had her bonus money in the bank to fall back on and guess what? yep, he got to that too. so, the question is, what would you do if you were in her place?

it actually all started when she found about $40,000 in debt. she confronted him
then about a week later she found out about $20-30,000 more that he didnt tell her about.
i mean damn if you get busted you might as well come completely clean the first time. so who knows, maybe next week she will find even more that he hasnt told her about.
hes got balls of steel ill give him that.

you can't spend that kind of money with out having something to show for it. either he is doing drugs, gambling or spending it at the strip club. I can spend a lot of money but I have a lot of toys and go on a lot of expensive vactions neither of which he doing.

I would demand that he tell me what the money was spent on. If he refuses I would threaten him with a divorce, not becuase of the debt, but because he will not be honest about what he did to get them in debt.

Manditory credit counseling.
If I had to guess, he's probably a compulsive gambler. My wife's sister was the same way. They blow thousands in no time just HOPING to land the "big haul" so they can pay everyone back and make everything ok. The further in debt they get the more desperate thier gambeling becomes.
If he does have a gambeling problem, he needs his ass kicked into reality quickly! I wouldn't encourage her into divorce right off the bat. Couples have recovered from much worse.
