Foam Roll
Hello,
I'm a new member to this site and I happened to stumble upon the article on the foam roll. I just wanted to add that the foam roll has been my best friend for 7 years now!!! I HIGHLY recommend it as well. Back squatting, cleans and snatches are the major exercises in my training. At times, my I-T bands get extremely tight and it is difficult to attempt even a body weight squat. I've found that rolling on the foam roll after training sessions keeps my I-T band loose and ready to go. I'm sure to do it on days that I squat. It can be extremely painful if you are really tight, but go easy, give it some time and it will loosen up. I roll for a minute or so on one leg, switch to the other and then repeat 2 more times. I also spend a lot of time stretching. Best bet is to keep everything healthy and functioning properly (yah, in a perfect world, right). As a seasoned, world-class athlete, I've learned that we do have more control over our bodies than we think. So do what I do - take the time to listen to your body what you can do to head off anything that might keep you from doing what is important – TRAINING!! Tight I-T bands happen to be the thorn in my side. Thank goodness for the foam roll. |

I love the foam roller. After physical therapy for a sublexed knee cap I have never stopped using mine.

You should get out more, people make better friends than a piece of styrofoam. Actually, that may not be entirely true, foam rolls will rarely annoy you and never want to talk about stuff. I s'pose if you drew a face on the styrofoam and called him foamy it may be a pretty sweet friend. This post was specifically typed in non-block text so that Todd would read it. I hope you like it Todd. I put a lot of work into it. |
