Boxing Gloves

I was looking into purchasing some boxing gloves to hit the heavy bag at the gym. I was thinking about buying apair of those light gloves that they use in the UFC but I am not sure how those gloves do with the heavy bag. Would I be better off just buying traditional bag gloves? Any one want to throw some advice my way. Thanks.

The gloves are only so you dont burn/cut your hands on the bag...UFC gloves should work fine....you could also just wrap your hands.

I always preferred wraps...

and if you do enough bag work you tear the skin off your knuckles and it makes people think you're a little crazy

Yes you need a good pair of hand wraps

and a pair of "BOXING" style gloves...

You do not want, fight gloves, or bag gloves...

You will probably want to buy "Training" gloves...

If you are a man and not a woman...
I would not suggest training gloves
under 16oz, and personally choose 18 or 20oz gloves

(the additional weight will give you a better workout and improve
your handspeed)

Here are some links...

I have Cleto Reyes trainers... which are kind of old, but still in good shape

But some time ago I bought a pair of the Ringside ultimate training gloves
for my girlfriend - (hook & loop)

And I was really impressed by the fit, feel, and durability of them
(Really nice freakin gloves, the kind you will own for a lifetime)

Good Luck
