If you have friends or family in the Katrina Zone you can check the status of damage in the area they live in at this WIKI map updated with markers by peeps living in the area.

I checked in my friend Colin's area and the main damages were down utility poles, trees and shingles blown from roofs. Some homes have trees crashed through them though so I put down a marker asking for status in that area.
Makes me feel a little better
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles

no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
