"We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Natures inexhaustible sources of energy — sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that."

I love to bash G.W.B. but I also love to bash any multi millionaire+ who worships money and power.....so I love to bash most Presidents Republican and Democrat. America has a political and judicial system that is only fair for the extremely wealthy......and that is not a good system I.M.O.

WTF? I need less sarcasm...Do you really want to hear, b/c I do know a lot of them very well. I spent 3months in the EU headquaters in Brussels this summer. I quite a bit about European gov't and our own as well. Oh yea the U.N. is garbage considering its leaders were actually caught imbezzeling ove 100mill from Iraq funds for food. Good job Kofi Annan

Yes I do....
If you are going to make that lame and typical comment that America is the best then prove it... You have no idea of the 189+ governments in this world, and only a fool would claim to be able to define them all.....or understand them all. Hell I bet you have no idea about 80% of them........and a quick Internet search isn't enough......you must have a clear understanding and knowledge of their political system as well as its history. Good luck with that |

Actually I recieved a double B.A. in International business and Polysci of Africa, Asia, and Latin America at Illinois State University. I have studied abroad in France and Belgium. I also had an intern position for 3 months this summer. My knowledge base is pretty solid.
Our system is better for two main reasons: 1-We have always minimized corruption and maximized production. yes, we all know their is some degree of corruption, but that is all about perspective. (example is paying a customs agent 20Euro to put your paper work through...here that is illegal, but in Poland it is expected) Less corruption means more free. Our tax dollars actually get put back into the community instead of some one like the former king Zaire (now the Congo rep.) blatenly taking all foreign and domestic funds. Our gov't has to approve and publish its revenues and costs for the public....expcept classified aspects like the CIA. Less corruption promotes a free market....free market is the epidmey of who we are....Alsmost all of Europe does not have a free market. Most of Latin America and South America do not have free markets. Africa and the middle east have no free market what so ever. 2-Our system does what is best for our people. Yes we have made one clear mistake of slavery, but our Supreme Court makes great desicions. All of our wars were justified...including Vietnam.....even though it failed. Our intents are correct, b/c they are in the interest of people. Protecting your people is primary. Many many gov't do not look after their people (African nations, Syria, North Korea, Aghan, Ukraine.....anyway you get he point. It's good to see an intellegent comment by you (I am not trying to sound like a dick either), b/c all I ever see from you is usually cracks on other people like "buildingup"....yes he is an idiot and the whole forum knows it. |

Do you know what this means? They will soon be so energy independent that while we are still relying on oil, coal, natural gas, LP, etc. they'll be laughing at us and not worrying about paying out their asses for price gouged resources when the supplies can't meet the demand.![]()

Yeh, but current day Germany is really hurting... economically, and in lots of other ways.
The US does have a large degree of socialism built in. Anyways, Foreman, I think he actually did address what he was saying in regards to the US being the best. All countries have their ups and downs... and living anywhere presents its own unique benefits and losses. Some certainly more so than others though. |

Everything comes to an end. No political system can keep a large amount of people happy permanently. 500 years from now we'll have a Supreme Board of Directors or something.

Yeah andy, its hard to tell... with technology increasing, large corporations having so much global power, etc... perhaps that is the reality people will face in 500 years.
The way the EU is spun about by unhappy members all the time its hard to believe the US was ever able to bring all its states together. Well, heres to who knows what in the future ![]() |

Well I'll be reasonably happy as long as we stay as far away from Orwell's 1984 as possible. I'll deal with Bush as long as the Thought Police don't get me

im really asking. which one is better and why? i admit i dont know the other 180 or so other countries systems out there so why wont someone enlighten me if they have a better example.
im going to start geographically when i think about how to narrow it down. out of eastern europe only england can hang with us, and i still think our system is an improvement on theirs and on a much larger scale even (economically, politically etc.) nothing in western europe can be counted as well in my opinion because of the turmoil that has happened in the region in the last 100 years with the last 2 world wars and the fact the boundries of each country have been shifting to the point new countries have formed and others have ceased to exist. i need to cut out anything in africa as well do to the wars, carnage, genocide, etc... in asia i liked hong kong until 1999, and tiawan im a big fan of except they are not officaily recognised and all. the polynesian islands i think we can rule out as well. so what does that leave us? Canada? central and south america? give me the US with all of its warts and it is still the best system out there |
