It doesnt matter if they wanted to surrender did they?
Its called being taught a lesson. There's also soldiers that fought for the US that is still scared and will be for the rest of their life. Oh wait, we should just forget about them. Cutting off the heads of POW's for fun? Not feeding on purpose? Killing and raping hundreds of thousands of Manchurian women for fun? When China didnt even do anything to them? This is why I get so pissssssssssssssssssssssed off because people just forget about things like this. When you harm someone that has done NOTHING to you then you must suffer. All those 18 year old soldiers that died without even a chance to have a life. All those outrageous kamikaze attacks that sunk carriers and battleships killing thousands.
The Japanese citizens wasnt mad when they where winning was they? I didnt see them talking about surrendering? DID YOU?

Yeah I'm not getting how we were supposed to win a WAR without WAR. But I await your military genius. I hope you aren't going to come out with that crap about how we should have given them puppies.

Are you admitting that if the atomic bomb was not invented, US could never win the war against Japan?

There are memorials for the soldiers that died at Pearl Harbor. Why memorials for the Japanese? I don't know.
Admiral Nimitz, General Eisenhower, and J. Robert Oppenheimer (among many others in Truman's own cabinet) disagreed with Truman about dropping atomic bombs on the Japanese. Apparently the Japanese were trying to surrender to the US since May of '45 when the US destroyed much of Tokyo w/ B-29 bombers and that an atomic catastrophe was not warranted.
The rest of your ungrammatical comment is crap.

Even when we did know, not all of them wanted to. Remember that the Emperors own men didn't want to, he didn't have a lot of support. If I recall correctly one of his men was murdered trying to make other high ranking officials aware of the plan, but I dont remember for certain.
As for the US not having a clean slate, that goes without saying! If anyone thinks that US history makes us look completely angelic, they are ignorant.

There are a lot of possibly valid claims of men and children being herded into pits, shot to death, and buried during Vietnam. Possible? Absolutely, but who knows.

I dont know why you would get that impression. However, in war you try to reduce casualties. Right now the US has the technological advantage in current wars to lose almost no men, we just lose money instead.
* Fun factoid, the US sold Japan much of the steel and iron that was used against us.

I don't understand this reference and how it applies to my post?
Does it mean that they were merciless and barbaric so we have the right and obligation to be like them??

My post was in reference to the United States military. American women and children were not flown to Vietnam.

War is an ugly thing and sometimes people do nasty shit during wartime. Look at the Berkeley/Stanford studies of prison guard behavior and that alone was bad enough, although those were certainly not professionals who were trained to control themselves.

Definately. I think disgusting acts of war take place more so in 'non-global' conflicts, that is conflicts not involving one of the worlds superpowers. A good example of this is the Russo/Serb/Croat conflict in the 90's.

We see it in every day human nature, a simple disagreement turns to a shouting match, or name calling over a stupid accident, whatever. People like to wave their dicks at each other sometimes, in blind fury and pride.

Just like the Israelis in the Gaza Strip. Speaking of which, that got handed over after 4 decades of occupation. Should be interesting to see how that works out for everyone involved.
