Interesting thread.

I don't know who's worst, because I haven't lived in these.....ahem....paradises.

But most, if not all of the above mentioned, are rotten, when it comes to individual expression and liberty.

North Korea seems to be the most brutal. If someone criticizes the leader at the dinner table in their home, they punish 3 generations.

It's called killing the seed. Three generations - say, grandpa, father, and son, are sent to labor camps where they are nearly and sometimes worked to death, and tortured.

All Islamic countries are appropriate for this list.

I would say the worst dictator is the guy oin Sudan...There has been an ethnic cleasning system going on there for 3 years...lead by muslims and against Christians and tribal natives, but no one will do anything b/c it Africa.

Why isn't Milosovich on there? He has go to be worse than Castro? Fidel is harmless...his days are numbered anyway.

It depends how you define "worst or brutal.l" It could be a short term dictatorship but excessively brutal or a long term one with less brutality but over time it adds up to more. Also how much did this brutality effect the world and for how long?

The Roman empire gets my vote but I see America coming up to possibly take the top spot if they can maintain their power for another few centuries.

Ah Foreman..so do you percieve the roman empire as wicked and full of malice. Let's put things into perspective. ALL powerful empires, nation states, and civilzations are brutal...according to those who are not native to the power.

I have a fun question: How long do thing we will sit on top? Why?

Hard to say how long America will last, but all empires crumble so the day will come eventually. With the advances in technology and weapons I don't think it will last another century. Personally I give America about 40 or 50 years then it will be over.
