Message therapy for muscle growth

It is a special on some woman BB in the Olympia last year. There is s portion on the segment that talks about massaging for muscle growth. This lady goes to a massage therapist to "tear down her muscles throught massage therapy to futher muscle growth." She was in a great deal of pain during the message. The therapist seemed to be squeezing the muscles in a manner that looked like wringing water out of a rag. How does this work?

Once or twice a week many pros get a massage and see a chiropractor. The idea is at least partially to improve blood flow, and get rid of knotted muscles from heavy lifting.
Deep tissue massage is supposed to be painfull. |

What's message therapy, is that where you write something on a post it and stick it to the muscle?
I have had a deep tissue massage and it hurts like hell. |
