Message therapy for muscle growth

So I am watching "Supersize She" on discovery channel. It is a special on some woman BB in the Olympia last year. There is s portion on the segment that talks about massaging for muscle growth. This lady goes to a massage therapist to "tear down her muscles throught massage therapy to futher muscle growth." She was in a great deal of pain during the message. The therapist seemed to be squeezing the muscles in a manner that looked like wringing water out of a rag. How does this work?

Mino sorry about not using any spaces

Once or twice a week many pros get a massage and see a chiropractor. The idea is at least partially to improve blood flow, and get rid of knotted muscles from heavy lifting.

Deep tissue massage is supposed to be painfull.

it is... But in most cases it doubles recovery time from muscle strains, pulls
ETC...

What's message therapy, is that where you write something on a post it and stick it to the muscle?

I have had a deep tissue massage and it hurts like hell.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.
