How about undoing one of the many stupid things that Jimmy Carter did and make speaking English a mandatory requirement?

Cut it way back by having restrictions resulting in having about 5% of the yearly total now allowed.

Yes, that and more. He also gave up the Panama Canal and passed the law that prevents the US from doing assasinations.

We need to be more strict. I know that most immigrants from mexico end up taking the shit jobs, but we have the white trash to do that.

    I Agree 5 bizillion percent.

A friend of mine keeps instisting that the US economy would fall apart without them for dirt cheap labor.. BS, Maybe a few more people would have to get off their asses and mow their own lawns.(Im not trying to be offensive in that, illegal immigrants fill many positions)
His point being that nobody will do the jobs they do for the money they'll do it for..

Ok so companies raise their prices, I dont mind. Hell Id even be willing to give the people who take the,"undesirable" jobs and let them have additional tax breaks; if a situation need be.
I dont mind people coming in from Central America/Mexico, as long as they do so legally.
If we were to introduce some type of non-permanent resident occupational license, I would certainly prefer a requirement be the ability to speak English on a moderate level. I actually wouldnt mind that system; And in addition companies found employing illegal immigrants(unless the company was mislead by false ID or something.. in which case instead of deporting the employee, we would put them in jail for 6 months or something) but if the company wasnt mislead, there should be a fine of like $50,000- thus paying for imprisioning illegals who gain employment using false ID.

If I come off as too strong on the subject its because the government has ignored it and doesnt plan to do anything about it.. allowing it to blister into a large problem IMO
Democrats dont want to offend hispanics, Republicans want to appease businesses who can beat the competition and line their pockets using illegal immigrant labor. The latter condition exists only because a few companies did it, got away with it, and then everyone else had to do the same to keep up.

    Fuck politics.

Oh and I didnt mention Canadians because there like.. 10 illegal immigrants from Canada in the US lol.
And they're all probably criminals who only came to escape prison :P

I think it depends on what country they are coming from and what their personal status is. I believe that this is how the system alredy works. If you come as a family you are more likely to be a citizen...If you already have proven family here you are more likely to be citizen.

As far as illegal Mexican immigrants go, I think they contribute more to our society than what hey take away. Yes there are some who drain our welfare system and gain drivers licenses; therfore voting illegally...

They also pay into our tax and social security system and an overwhelming majority of them do not collect any benefits, due to fear of being deported. They are a hard working class that aspire to move up in society...That's why they work any job and very low wages. Most of them are practicing Catholics. This is always a moral plus.

Put the restrictions on one particular group IMO. That's arabs. I do not care how prejudice it sounds. I am prejudging them at the expense of national security. Arabs are crazy...bottom line (not Muslims....Arabs) I sure some arab person on this forum is ready to flame me for this one.

Thats strictly a matter of opinion. Perhaps its a,"moral" plus, but frankly I couldnt care less for that system.

    Wow.

By the way I totally missed the point of this thread.. for some reason i read the minute men comment and started thinking Illegal immigration, lol.

We should definitely allow immigration, though on what level I dont know.
Generally people who come here legally contribute alot. It may not benefit some slobenly lazy American directly, but it helps the economy a bunch.
Legal immigrants tend to know English as well, but mandating it for papers isnt such a bad idea. In reality you would be helping them by forcing them to learn English anyways.

If you come here legally and can speak some fucking english, right on. But I deal with people every day at work that can't speak a word of English. I don't go out of my way for them, and I don't even try to help them. I basically make fun of their lack of speaking the nation's language, then when they start swearing at me in Spanish, thinking I don't understand it, I swear back in the same. Then I ask them, in English AND Spanish, why they can't learn two languages if I can?
Let's all join together and SPEAK ENGLISH IN AMERICA.

I think the U.S. is overpopulated.

However, the U.S. government seems to want more immigration to increase the tax base. Increased immigration also keep property values (according to economists) strong.

The U.S. government has long neglected the issue altogether and W. Bush has been shameful in his pandering for the the Latin vote. But this immigratin is also coming from other countries.

Nearly 300 million people, is enough.

It's the U.S.S.A: The United States of Suburban America.
