    Yoga meditationess

Have you ever tried Yoga or any other type of meditation? Did you get any type of benefit from it? Like body relaxation or a higher states of consciousness of some kind?

I tried meditation and it made me slightly paranoid. At least that's what I think everybody was saying about me.

I do the heightened awareness method where you sit and stare while paying full attention to all of the stimuli around you. I like to listen to jazz and stare into the visualizations in Winamp and light up some incense for my insense, you see the visuals, hear the music , but you are completely aware of everything happening in the peripherals of your eyes, ears, touch, smell even the peripherals of your mind, the sub-concious. If you focus well enough you can drag it out and manipulate it in words, drawing, music, etc.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Have you ever focused on something and the object kind of amplified in your vision?

I've focused on things so long they've caught fire in invisible flames and then everything around it caught flame and the whole world was a raging inferno of invisible fire, you know how you can see the heat escaping from the roof of a hot car on a sweltering afternoon? Thats how everything looked except the convection waves fell downward and back like oceanspray from a schooner slipping through the sea.

It's supposed to thats how the feel good hormones are released. It's like a small dose of body pretzeling morphine.

I'm still figuring out exactly how much I like this, it's hard, a lot harder I think than most people realize, it takes great concentration, strength and flexibility to do it right. I'm still trying to get my head in the right space for yoga, the whole meditation definately doesn't come naturally to me but I'm trying.
Yesterday one stupid biatch brought her phone into the class with her and it went off twice... there I was thinking about decking her, um... need to work on that blocking out external distractions!!! Instructor was cool though, second time it rang she went outside to take the call and he locked her out... I like his style!
It's definately a challenge so I will likely go back for more classes, I hate not being good at things and I'm feeling very inept right now.
Can't say as yet I'm feeling any particular benefits from the classes but it's only been two so far... I have dumped 5lbs though in two days, must be all that water weight from sweating so much.
