    Next to or across

    My wife and I went out to dinner the other day and there were two couples sitting at different tables and in both cases they were sitting next to each other. My wife and I always sit across from each other. I think it looks strange to see two people sitting next to each other with nobody across the table from them. Like they are in a car or something. Anyone else find this strange.

    i hate next to n yea i think it's weird. some people are too clingy and you can tell them apart from normal people by the next to thing. my son does it if i just take him out to at but he is 8 and has separation anxiety... that is the only case in which this behavior is acceptable.

    just to clarify, by next to, I meant alongside. Not a square table where two people "next to" each other would still be somewhat facing each other. Side by side in a booth, would be the best example. Looks wierd to me. Seems like it does to most in the poll, too.
