    The Pearl Harbor Cover-Up

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (Reuters) - A U.S. admiral demoted after the surprise Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor should be cleared of blame and have his rank posthumously restored, his grandson said on Wednesday, the 64th anniversary of the carnage.

Thomas Kimmel, born two years after the December 7, 1941, assault on the major U.S. naval base in Hawaii, said President George W. Bush should exonerate Rear Adm. Husband E. Kimmel.

"My grandfather never knew anything about ... the secret decoding of Japanese diplomatic and spy communications, which gave us indications of the plan for the Pearl Attack and even the timing of the attack," Kimmel said. "That information was kept in Washington and never provided to my grandfather."

Kimmel, commander in chief of the Pacific Fleet, and Army Maj. Gen. Walter E. Short, commander of the Hawaiian Department of the Army, were reassigned from their leadership positions after an investigative commission blamed them.

The Japanese assault destroyed several U.S. warships and planes and killed more than 2,000 people, raising the curtain on the Pacific Theater of World War II.

The U.S. Senate approved a resolution in 1999 exonerating the two officers and restoring their ranks. But the White House has the final decision, and neither Bush nor predecessor Bill Clinton has followed through.

Kimmel and Short were forced to retire at reduced rank, and were exempted from a 1947 law which allowed World War II era officers to retire with the pay and benefits of the highest field rank they held during the war, the younger Kimmel said.

"Think about that," Kimmel said. "The only two persons who were officially punished for the Pearl Harbor attack were my grandfather and General Short. I think it's time for that unjust punishment to be removed from the record of this very honorable man."

Kimmel died in 1968 and Short in 1949.

I honestly can't see how it can hurt. And from the looks of it they appeared to be scapegoats...If it means that much to their families then why not.

Just one more example that serving in the American military is a job where you get fucked from every angle......and if you live your own Government fucks you the hardest.

All that matters is that the Americans won the second world war.

    A little over-simplified, don't ya think.

But seriously, there are many government documents, testimony under oath, and writing about how the U.S. government knew about the attack, and had the information. Many of the most important boats were out to see at the time.

    It isn't right. it's wrong.

I generally get totally sick of these kind of conspiracy theories.

However, this one has at least a little bit of credibility.

The problem is that most of the people pushing this theory also believe that a jet didn't hit the Pentagon, we didn't land on the moon, there is an alien craft at Area 51 and Elvis and Tupac are sharing a condo in Jamiaca.

What is interesting to me is how that whole attack couldn't happen now. We'd see the heat blum in the engines of the carriers before they left port.

I saw a special on the hunt for the Bismark. It took them forever to find the ship. Now, we'd not only know where it was, we'd know what the crew had for dessert.

Just because some people think the government can be corrupt does not equate to:

Being a Seachicken fan isn't bad enough? Now you have to go and post this drivel? Everyone knows Elvis is ON the spaceship that's being stored in Area 51. And yes, Tupac's in Jamaica, but he's sharing the condo with Bob Marley. Jeeze, get your head out of the sand.

The evidence is overwhleming. This was revealed by the late 1940s.

The problem is that most of the people pushing this theory also believe that a jet didn't hit the Pentagon, we didn't land on the moon, there is an alien craft at Area 51 and Elvis and Tupac are sharing a condo in Jamiaca.
Can you provide any statistical evidence, that the people who testified before congress in the 1940s believed in modern day conspiracy theories? Almost all of them are deceased.

Do you have any valid studies that correlate the people who believe 9/11 was a hoax, and also believe that the White House in Washington had intercepted intelligence that the Japanese were going to attack Pearl harbor in advance.

Equating 9/11 Conspiracy theories (which I don't believe in ) and Pearl Harbor, is a comparison of:

    Apples and Oranges.

That was sarcasm (i think most of you got that). If i had to say there was one sole country who won it, it would be the Russians.

They played a major part, or the major part, no doubt about that. Operation "Barbarossa" by Hitler is seen as one of his biggest mistakes.

But, Hitler needed the oil fields in the Caucuses. His war machine was literally running out of gas in parts of the world, and the Germans had a factory to make and produce "synthetic" oil.

Unfortunately the U.S. government gave the USSR over 8,000 planes.

I wish we had let Hitler ravage and destroy as much of the USSR as possible, before Germany, was eventually defeated.
