How do you calculate net worth really? Is it a combination of everything you have that is paid for?
We have about $160k equity in our house, about 30k in the bank account, both cars are paid for and we don't carry any debts except for the house mortgage.
People, pay off those credit cards in full every month! If you can't, you charge too much. Credit card interest is the worst thing you can pay.
I don't really understand what "net worth: 6 figures (plastic figurines) means" Can someone explain?

Compound interest can either be your best allie or your worst enemy.

This is either the copout answer or it means you're poor.Originally Posted by NeilPearson

accountants work in all sectors!Originally Posted by silencer

I'm not going to spend 2 hours on Justifying my position on accounting. I'm already about to finish my bachelors with a 2:1, my course has a ridiculous amount of accounting in it for a start, so much so that I worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers for a amount of time over the summer... In a nutshell, this is what is was like : BORING. I mean fine if you want to make a reasonable amount of money and you don't care about job satisfaction then fine, but without a passion for your work then I don't see how life can be as rewarding as it potentially could be. When/If I take up my commission in the army as an officer Ill probably only do it for 6 years +/- , if I love it I'll stay, but financially its not exactly the most appealing job, I'm doing it more for the sense of pride and adventure, after that I plan to take a MBA at an IVY , possibly Harvard or Yale, or maybe LBS, INSEAD or Oxford, Then I'm off to work for an Investment bank probably in Hedge funds, there is A HELL OF A LOT more money in that, and its actually a pretty fast paced, interesting area to be in, the first 5 years will be overloaded with work, and wont be too diverse, but you gotta learn the ropes by being an analyst first etc before you specialise. With accounting although this is my personal opinion, I just don't see besides financial reward how "number crunching" can be at all rewarding, i mean if you are REALLY good at it, i know the partners make around $700,000+/- if you are in London, smaller amounts in the other cities, but not too much smaller.....blah blah, anyways I'm not gonna ramble on, as I think I have already.Originally Posted by shiznit2169
