pros and cons of both

bachelor

pros:
-all your income goes to your living needs and your toys
-ability to have many girlfriends and continue having fresh "meat" on a regular basis
-envy of friends, answering to no one, partying and having fun
-vacations
-ability to become quite well-off even on a low-income job because of the lack of mouths to feed

cons:
no traditional family to come home to
-kids, whether u think its a good or bad thing, no legacy to follow in your footsteps
-comfortable living conditions, wife that hopefully will help makes things easier as far as cooking, cleaning, laundrey is concerned
-party life will probably get boring after some time

family man
pros
-pretty much what i said above, youve got a family to come home to, a kid to raise as your own, little leagues to participate in
-nice house, dual income if the wife works

cons
-divorce, paying half ur assets out, paying child support for the rest of ur life
-boredom, being with the same person for the rest of your life
-little to no free money as most of it is tied up for a purpose, mortgage, child education etc.

I plan to be a great husband when I decide to get married. My comment was half joking. I will not have a family if that means to sacrafice my own life and the things I enjoy. So basically if I am not in a financial state to support a family properly and still be able to have things I want then I will not get married and have children. IF I do find Ms Right and get married I would not go into that with hopes to sleep with other women etc...

For me, marraige material must have 3 qualities.

1. I must be attracted to her
2. She has to be nice (not a bitch like most women)
3. She has to be fun/cool (someone with some personality)

Not in all cases...but it seems men in general..get fuqqed in divorce court.

I think the divorce laws are antiquated. Based on the single income of the 50's?
I don't believe in alimony. if I get married, the woman I meet will be working as a professional...and most likely earns a good 'wage'...the last 3 women I date actually made more $$ than I did.

I belive in common sense. You come into marriage w/ what you have..and if you get divorced...you take that...and any interest THAT it made. Same for the spouse. Divide the combined assets either 3 ways:
1) just no longer want to be married - split assets in 1/2
2) and 3) if infedelity / cruelty (proven) or other 'deal breaker'...70 - 30 tothe 'victim'

Children / child support would be a separate issue.

I may be WAY of base here....as I haven't any experience in marriage...
