Unhappy The news I got I wouldn't wish upon anyone!

This time I am posting something that hit me like a brick wall today. Something that will more than likely shut me down in my youth. No more bodybuilding, huh I always figured I would go on for years into super stardom, and be a great. Well it may happen still but I do not know.

Today January 10,2006. I was told I have stomach cancer. I was wondering why I suddenly lost like 20 pounds. I even posted in here about how to gain it back. Then the feelings of fullness after barely eating. The throwing up, the dizziness, and the stomach pain which felt like my appendix before they removed it.

I went to my doctor and asked her what it could be, and she kinda shrugged and said maybe a growth spurt, maybe too much lifting. Then My mom asked her to give and endoscopy. So they did and found that I have stomach cancer. They said they caught it in the irst stage, and this is the earliest she has ever seen it caught. She also said only 15% are caught early enough to do anythign about, before it spreads to the rest, or other parts of the body.

She told me to stop my training, and I refused. She said well then you dig your grave. I asked if the training caused it, she said no but the extra stress while i recieve radiation would not be good. I still say fuck it, I am not giving up a dream, I am matthew greger damn it, and i can take the world. She said well that is a ogod mind set, bet i warned you. I start radiation on thursday. She said about 3 months I may be back to training well. Then she said it all depends on the person. so I told her 2 months lol. I mean I feel fine, but i am always tired. I still choke down 8 meals. and will continue to, if i throw it up, i will eat another.

I am just wanting to tell all of you, I will still post, I will still train, and I will still be me. I mean Anyone that reads this should take my advice. No matter what life throws at you, never, and I mean never give up on a dream. Damnit a dream is a life long job.

I love this site, and I love the knowledge I have learned here. Thank all of you for your time, and I hope you did not waste too much time reading this.

Sorry to hear your news, but it sounds like you caught it early enough to shut it down. Stay strong, bro.

Sorry to hear of this. But i agree with your doc. You need to lay off lifting while you are under treatment. Most experiences BBers recommend taking off training at the onset of any illness, even if it is a cold/cough. Cancer is much more serious and you need all your strength to survive. Great that you have the drive to survive. It will go along way towards your recovery. Wish you all the best.

I agree with this whole heartedly. Don't train, that's asking for trouble. Good luck and I hope everything goes well.

Ok so i guess no training. 2 months i will start. they said the radiation will be an extremely high level for a shorter time. This way I am not so drawn out and fucked up for a long period. like 6 weeks. then i guess 2-6 weeks to get energy levels back. I wanna keep my weight up tho. Will taking creatine help, or not advised, maybe i will ask her.

Dude, you are 18, get healthy now so you can get stronger later. Most make their best strength gains in their mid-20's anyway. I know I did.

Creatine does not help retain/grow mass. It only helps you train harder, simply put. If you are not training, no point in taking it. Besides, your system is under stress anyway. As diff as it may be, try and eat a a well balanced nutritious meal (Veggies+fruits+ good fats..etc) Not just high protein and fat. Your focus presently is surviving this.

I realize that it's little consolation, but be thankful it's happening now and not 10 years or more years ago.

If you don't mind me asking, any idea how you got stomach cancer?

    Good luck to you!

They said they do not know. I mean when I was like 14, I used to do drugs with friends in cali. I did meth for about 6 months. the way we did it alot was putting it in a pill capsule and gut bombing it. So maybe this. i am glad i havent done drugs since.

Drugs are dumb and i tell everyone to stay away. I mean i did it all through the age 14. It was harsh on me, I could have stopped but it was fun. Now i have a new addiction. My career in bb.

There are no words to completly alleviate the anguish you must be feeling. Be encouraged to know that you are not alone in your struggle.

The advancements made in cancer research are tremendous and continuing to advance every day. The fact that they caught it so early is teriffic!
