    Computer issues...??

Ok so this is the only place I could think of posting this but whatever!

I have been trying to make my ringtones for my nextel b/c all the ones I have suck. So I once talked to a person who said there is a way you can play a song on your computer(what ever you use itunes, WMP etc etc) and simply record the segment you wanted using the voice record. I can't figure out how on hell to do this. I could get a microphone and just record it off of the speaker but then it would sound like shit and the volume is far to low.

Anyone out there not as ignorant when it comes to computers as I am know how I could go about doing this?

first step to making your ringtone is get a music converter called dbpower amp converter.

    2. open the music converter and insert a cd of your choice.
choose a song, choose a folder to place the song, and convert it to wav.

    3. open the sound recorder and then open the song file that u converted.

    4. play the song and use the edit option, u will find to choices in the bottom saying delete after and before. this is used to cut the song to make it shorter for a ringtone.
    5. convert the song u cut up into wav again.
    6. open myjal and and upload the song u cut
(hint) make sure not to make the song to long.

Awsome min0 thank you very much.

Only other issue I'm having now is that the files are very large compared to the ones I have. I have a cd with a ton of ringers on it and most are about 30 seconds long and I can fit alot on my phone but with the ones I am making I can't fit nearly as much. They are roughly 25-30 seconds and they are still to large! Even after converting and compressing to a different format it is still pretty large.

Any way I can make em smaller somehow without reducing the time length?

For my phone I make a few minor adjustments that when combined make a big difference.

Since it's on a phone, I encode everything at 96 bit rate and in mono, not the typicaly 192 (stereo) encoding.

If you decrease the quality any further, in my opinion, it will be noticable.
I love it when a plan comes together.
