For all you veterans out there who have witnessed both attacks, i need some input from you guys since i am covering this topic in one of my liberal arts courses.
I am supposed to compare/contrast the two September 11ths (1973 and 2001, in Chile and the US, respectively) and their effects on very different societies. How are the two events similar, and how are they different? How have they shaped each country's history, politics, national "conversation," military, as well as socially, economically and its self-image? As for "conversation", that's just another word for national discourse, dialogue, etc., i.e. what's found in the media, editorials, everyday talk on the street, social gatherings.
I have already covered the majority of this stuff by doing my own research and starting my paper. But i also need to ask people who were born before 1973 and have experienced/witnessed both attacks and their views/opinions about it.
Please keep this thread clean. Do not flame, spam or post if you do not know anything. Thanks.

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

anyone?

Sorry, I was born in '65 and I don't remember anything about Chile.
Maybe Albob, Tough or Triple threat can help you out.
I would PM Oldbob, he was in the military.

You might try http://www.wikipedia.org and look for the history of Chile and search on President Salvador Allende of Chile and it might give you a page of info and a couple of articles.
They might give you articels from a first person point of view.

Wikipedia isn't always credible. A lot of bs out there and people have the ability to change things on that site so ..Originally Posted by section8

You can't even keep your ridiculous comments out of one thread? I mean the guy went out of his way to ask you to not post anything unless it was serious. And you'd think you might respect that seeing as how it's for an educational class he is enrolled in. Perhaps you need a hobby of some sort? Or maybe a little education yourself?Originally Posted by BigDyl

Are you implying that you yourself are infact educated?Originally Posted by ST240

I didn't discredit him. I was just simply saying that wikipedia isn't a very reliable source. It's a good website and i use it to find information but i don't use it for my research papers because of the fact all people have the ability to change information on that website. You took it the wrong way.Originally Posted by Ghost_Dog

Sept 1973 would have been the start of my sophomore year of college. I had just moved into an apartment, and if I wasn't working or in class, I had my nose buried in my books or some girl's crotch. Sorry I can't be of more help.Originally Posted by min0 lee
Well BigDyl, I am in my 3rd year of mechanical engineering at a university. So yes, I do consider myself, or at least on my way to being somewhat "educated".Originally Posted by Ghost_Dog
What about yourself? On your way to getting your 7th PhD? I wouldn't expect anything less of you.

I wish one of the similarities would have been that Bush had blown his brains out as well.

not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,

no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
I bet chicks didn't shave, or even trim back then. When I was little, I found my dad's old stack of nudie mags, and the first playmate I ever saw had 2 afro's if you get what i'm saying.Originally Posted by Triple Threat
