Good to go, D! I've got my MCP in Desktop and Server, 2000.
My company....all they wanted was my Microsoft #...so they could add me 'to the collective' (we have # MCPs / MCSE's on staff) any bump in pay? nope.

For companies that offer services to other companies, they like to have these certs. If not i think they dont really care. I did my Sun Java programmer cert. Comp really didnt care.

    BTW, congrats, BigDyl.

    Thanks,

I have Desktop 70-270, Server 70-290 (now), and Security+ towards my MCSA 2003: Security. I just need 70-291, which is the hardest.

I also have A+, and Network+. I'm taking CCNA after this too.

Btw, it took me 3 hours.

Yeah certifications don't equate to experience, but they are important.

I'm a sysadmin myself. My company sort of incourages getting them, and you don't get a raise, but you will move up faster with them. From Sysadmin 1 to Sysadmin 2 in two years, instead of 3 or 4.

I disagree. While experience is invaluable, these certifications are VERY hard. 2000 was 10 times harder than NT. 2003 is 10 times harder than 2000. That's just a rough estimate, but yeah, it's a bitch.

sorry..I meant..that if he is still current in the workforce: still an IT SYS ADMIN, he could have practical knowledge of the 2003 enterprise and just need to go thru the books and course to get the details.

kinda funny...getting my NET+ was way harder than me passing desktop and server.

Have Net +, was working on Linux + before I got into solar electricity.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Congrats Good luck with your whole cert process

I stopped getting cert about 3 years ago. Proved to be a waste in my time. Nobody cared about what certs I had or didn't have. They just wanted life experience and were more interested in how long I've been hands on instead of a classroom. Makes sense though.

Although right now I've been asked to get my HP-UX CSE I didn't really want to do these courses but oh well.
