i dont consider it a contradiction at all. im not happy those two cities were destroyed nor all the deaths that resulted from those bombings. yet in war difficult decisions must be made where people have to die. i admire a man like truman who had the courage to make such a difficult decision. i guess i would say i support decisons where the enemy dies and our troops live

That's a very broad statement. Generally decisions are more complex than this...

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

I do think it was the right decision, however I do believe that part of the reason it was dropped was to intimidate the Soviet Union at the time, which is kind of a ridiculous reason.

Despite the deaths, it was good that it happened because it showed the possible destruction that could happen to any countries that used it on each other, and really forced cooperation amongst the more powerful countries of the world... that things between powerful nations can't be settled with war as it was in the past, but instead negotiations and compromises. There was an arms race during the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, but the known destruction of these weapons led to numerous treaties and agreements to first place caps on nuclear weapons and then eventually reduce the amount of weapons each country had.
