By worthless, I mean a degree that will get you nowhere except having new knowledge about the subject that can't really be used for anything productive.

That's hard to answer. It all depends on the job market after you graduate and your connections. I've heard of physicists who can't get a job but liberal arts majors eventually holding a corporate position with a fortune 500 company, so it varies. Major in what you enjoy, because many people end up working in a field other than the one they hold a degree in.

Actually, as worthless as they may seem, I believe that any form of education is worthwhile! It’s always people who have no experience in an area of education are always the ones who say that said degree is worthless.

I wouldn't call them "worthless," Foreman (and no I didn't major in those two you mentioned).

People gravitate toward their interests, and it won't be in what they majored in school, usually.

My first Degree is in English Literature, so I'm speaking from experience. If I had decided to teach then it would be fine but that's not what I wanted to do. It is a great Degree, but in the real world it offers little choices and most of them low paying. Now that I'm older I realize college is only a place to get ready to make money and have many job opportunities......so something in the Medical field is great....any degree they can't outsource is the best choice..

Education, teachers are a dime a dozen, unless you have a desire to teach/coach then it is pretty much worthless. If your state is like mine then the school systems are always broke and never have money to hire new teachers. If they do have the money to hire new ones they usually let them go after a couple of years to prevent them from getting tenure. All depends on who you know if they keep you or not, pretty much can be said for most jobs though.

Incorrect. Why would you "at least" need an MBA?

God hand asked what degrees will get you nowhere. Saying a business degree will get you nowhere is just plain incorrect. At the very least, it'll get your foot into the corporate world a hell of a lot faster than someone without a business degree, or some lame ass degree like Anthropology or something. I am guessing there are plenty of people on IM with Bachelor degrees in business who are doing quite well for themselves.

Culinary arts. Took that long to realize as soon as you get a degree, the only job you can get is a manager at a food establishment. And you don't make that much bucks. Only way to make it in the culinary field is making a food establishment of your own. And that is like mondo bucks!

Are you kidding me? Indiana Jones not an expert in studying humans? How do you think he got that little asian kid to follow him around yelling "Hey radie, you carr him Dr. Jones!!", or got Adolf Hitler's autograph? You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.
