I think it has to do with how high she can get her voice, which I admit is impressive.

1 octave is a run of all the notes ABCDEFG, after the G the next note will be an A, but it is higher A than the original, 1 octave higher!

    so 5 octaves is ABCDEFGABCDEFGABCDEFGABCDEFGABCDEFG

    Kelly Clarkson
Actually I think Whitney Housten. She was excellent in her time. She is pretty sloppy now. Smokes and drinks.

Yea, Whitney is good.. too bad she is doped up to her eyeballs now. Mariah is good as well, too bad she is one sandwich short of a picnic.

I agree, Whitney was good.....I'll never forget the way she sang the national anthem during the Bills - Giants Super bowl.

I think Mariah has a nice voice but she tends to overdue it.

It's a shame with what happened to her, from a classy lady to a diva who farts on tv.......damn that Bobby Brown.

Mike Patton, Faith No More, Mr. Bungles lead singer has the most versatile voice I've ever heard.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Mike Patton fits in with Whitney and Mariah he's not all there either, he once pee'd in his shoe on stage and drank it.
