premium = system + hd component cables, 20 gig hdd, wireless controllers, headset, universal remote, ethernet cable, xbox live silver, xbox gold 30 day

core = system + wired controller + sd cables

hdd alone costs like 80-100 collars I think. So for 100 dolars more, you are getting like 250 dollars worth of stuff.

me too.. when the 360 came out, I bought 2... one from a pre-order at Best Buy, and another I waited in line @ Sam's Club for a few hours. I sold one on ebay for 960 dollars, and kept the other one. End of the day, I got a free 360

PS3 will be harder to get now, but they'll be worth that much more on E-bay if you get one. Sony's initial shipment in November is only 6 million worldwide.

I can't imagine what a game for the PS3 is going to cost considering the system is going to be sold at a loss for around $500.

market will probably force it to 59.99 like the 360, which is already crazy. I don't think Sony could ask for more at this stage in the game (at least not initially).

That's what I was thinking, and isn't all the money they make from the games?

From what I read, that Blu Ray technology is driving the cost up, but wouldn't that impact the price of the disks as well?

Yes, standalone blu-ray drives (internal ide/sata, or external usb) will be 1000$ estimated. 25 gig BD-R disks will be 30 bucks, and 50 gig BD-R disks will be 60 bucks. BD-RW disks may be insanely high, like 100 bucks a disk. This is for a blank disc.

I have a feeling PS3 games will be between 60-80 dollars.

the discs are more expensive than regular dvd's, but I don't think Sony would be able to charge more at this junction. By the time they launch, MS will have a year head start on them, a pretty big library of games, and a cheaper system.

I have no doubts that PS3 will do great and likely pass Xbox up, but I'd think they would have to price the games according to the market.

They will be VERY far behind the 360, and will need ALOT of killer app tittles at launch to even compete.

don't kid yourself.. I'm an XBox guy myself, but PS is still king. The PS3 will do great. I hope they do... more competition means better games/services for the consumer.

But personally I don't think they'll launch until 2007.. which may spell more trouble for them.

Very true. they've got a lot of catching up to do. if they don't make the November launch, they'll be in big trouble.

Eventually though, I do think Microsoft will take over the lead. They've got the means & motive to do it, that's for sure.

I don't know, you have to figure every rap artist will have one, then the kids will want one. If my kid asked me to buy him one and the games were $80, I would ask him what he intended to play on it. Then I would smack him in the head and tell him to hit the bricks.

They may have bitten off a little more than they can chew.
