True Story, Bush is a MAN's MAN.

In a related story, Kerry is satan. Fox News told me so.

Congressional Candidate Slams Press Coverage of Iraq--With Bogus Photo

    By E&P Staff

    Published: March 29, 2006 2:30 PM ET

NEW YORK How far will critics of media coverage of the Iraq war go to prove reporters are wrongly focusing on the negative?

One answer came this week, in a shocking if amusing episode featuring one Howard Kaloogian, a leading Republican running for the seat in Congress recently vacated by indicted Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham.

He posted on the official Web site for his campaign a picture taken in “downtown Baghdad,” he said, during his visit to the city, which supposedly indicated that the media was wrong about the level of violence in the city. “We took this photo of downtown Baghdad while we were in Iraq,” he wrote. “Iraq (including Baghdad) is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be. But, each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it - in part because many journalists are opposed to the U.S. effort to fight terrorism."

But the blogosphere quickly smelled a rat. The photo featured people who didn’t seem dressed quite right for Iraq, and signs and billboards that looked off, too. In the now-familiar pattern, the ace detective work leaped from obscure blogs to the well-known (Talking Points Memo, Eschaton, Attytood, more), and back again, as eagle-eyed experts proposed alternative locales, with Turkey a likely suspect.

In less than a day, it was over. “Jem6X” at the popular DailyKos blog confirmed the street scene was in Istanbul, not Baghdad.

Tipped off by someone who recognized the actual intersection in Istanbul, Jem went through online photo galleries and in a matter of minutes today found a snap taken by a “Faruk” that lined up with the “Baghdad” photo in numerous conclusive ways. Game, set, and match to the blogosphere.

Meanwhile, the leading "liberal" media networks refused to air this commercial from the United Church of Christ...sayin' it was too controversial...(of course, Pat, Dobson, and Falwell ain't..):

Geez, any body with half an education could see thats not Baghdad or anywhere near it. The girl in the sleeveless shirt holding hands with the dude and the buildings were my first indicators. No sandstone and alot of color and wood are not characteristic of Iraq.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Pol posts Turkey snapshot and calls it 'calm' Baghdad
    BY HELEN KENNEDY
    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Calif. congressional candidate and pro-war activist Howard Kaloogian published this photo of a serene Turkey street, identifying it as Baghdad and saying it proves media is ignoring progress. You can't get away with anything online anymore.
A Republican congressional candidate in California posted a tranquil street scene he said he snapped in Baghdad to prove the media are exaggerating the violence in Iraq.
Trouble is, the photo was taken in Turkey.
Millionaire Howard Kaloogian, who also bankrolls a controversial pro-war group called Move America Forward that buys TV ads saying the war is a great success, posted the picture on his campaign Web site after visiting Iraq last year.
"We took this photo of downtown Baghdad while we were in Iraq," the caption read. "Iraq (including Baghdad) is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be. But, each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it."
Liberal bloggers thought it was fishy and ganged together to expose the photo as a fake.
For one thing, they noted, there were no signs in Arabic. For another, what's the yellow cab doing there? Not to mention the blond in the skimpy, pink, spaghetti-strap top. Kaloogian blamed his Web master for mislabeling a photo from a layover in Turkey as Baghdad. "I'm sorry. It's a mistake," the former assemblyman said. "It's nothing sinister. It's no big deal. We'll post something else."
