Many people, for the most part rich white men who were born into wealth. Not just from one generation but from many...not all were racist but many were and are, but I think that racism has developed into more of a us and them idea. As far as the African tribesmen were selling blacks to the USA, I guess they thought better that then becoming a slave themselves....but still some did. Slavery is something almost every nation had at one time, but none were as brutal as the Americans.
