You need to buy the new XBOX. The old XBOX probably has a feature to crash when the new one started selling.

They are fixable, I had a friend that would take other people's broken Xbox's (they'd usually give it for free) and fix it up and cash it in at Electronic Boutique for credit, he had up to $2,000 in credit. So it is possible to fix them, though it probably requires some basic soldering skills so just google it further. I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're doing, and indeed just call customer service. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get it fixed for just the shipping cost or less even

It's impossible to know exactly what the problem is. Knowing the history of problems with the original xbox, it may be the power supply, or an overheating issue with the cpu.

Or you could leave the basement and go outside and play basketball.
