    Fist or Palm?

What would produce more force behind a punch?
A punch with the base of your palm or a closed fist?

Probably equal, but punching would be more efficient.

In either case force would be produced from the torso, shoulder and arm...

So with either hand technique, "force" would be the same -

(You have more reach with a closed fist)

I'm just thinking about that ball punching video, in which case I think an open palm would be worse

You can't throw a right hook with your palm.

Well you could...it's called a bitch slap.

no but you can easily break their nose or jaw with your palm without taking a chance on breaking a finger.

All depends on how you punch... The palm and fist don't create force

No one, I was just wondering.

I would think hitting someone with the palm of your hand to the nostrol would be naturally quicker and more effective.
I guess both have their uses.
