Darren "Dutch" Dalton has lost his mind!

Did anyone else see the HBO sports piece on Darren "Dutch" Dalton? This dude has completely lost his freaking mind. He thinks he can travel through time, fly (without wings), that he's the possible Messiah. Just curious if anyone else caught this last night?

<H2>Darren Daulton Has Gone Plum Damn Crazy

Crazier than Dennis Rodman. Crazier than Ron Artest. Crazier than Lawrence Taylor after a party at Gary Busey’s house. That’s how crazy Darren Daulton appears to be.
Dutch, pictured above at “Darren Daulton Day” in Philadelphia (a promotion that really drew a crowd, evidently), believes that we’re all going to vanish soon. Specifically, December 21st, 2012, at 11:11 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time. I’ll let him explain.
“That will be the end of this dispensation. I really don’t know how to explain it. I don’t know what words to use so people won’t think I’m goofy. But by Dec. 21, 2012 [the last day recorded on the Mayan calendar], people will have a pretty good idea. It’s all about consciousness and love. We have the ability to create whatever we want. We’re all made of energy.”
I’m going to test his theory. I’m going to sit here and, with my mental energy, attempt to create a world where Darren Daulton is sane. Hold on, give me a few seconds.

Nope, didn’t work. So much for that theory. This has been, by far, the most popular tip of the day. There’s a lot more crazy where this came from, both in this SI interview, and this chat with the Philadelphia Daily News.

"Cosmic Charley how do you do?
Bought you a paddle for your paper canoe"
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Naw, he sounds like one of those cult nutters.

The Mayan culture is what we call a base-20 civilization. Mathematics and calendar were based on a complex quasi (not a true) base 20 numbering system. The last date on their calender before restarting is 2012.

Some cults ascribe importance to this date.

I have no explanation for belief in time travel or flying. Quantum duality, anyone?

    *burst of laughter*

The more you think you know, the less you really know.
The more you learn, the more you realize that you really know and comprehend comparatively little (whether specialist or generalist) of the massive amount of information in circulation.

At best, you can sample the smorgasborg laid out for you. Bon appetit.
